1.1 Introduction and Background of the study

4
Presently, people focus and rely on online interaction in terms of business, education,
and others. Today, a growing number of companies understand the advantages of
developing their online booking system. Small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as
freelancers, can use online booking systems. Any business with a good or service that
can be reserved, booked, or rented can profit from using an online booking system. It
doesn't matter if you run a large chain of restaurants or a small mobile hair salon. Rapid
advancements in technology have been a great help in our society, and as time passes
by, businesses rely on technology. Every task must now be completed in this
generation's convenient and efficient manner while still being productive. In essence, an
online reservation system enables a prospective client to reserve and pay for a service
online. With the use of online reservations, information is more secure, more reliable,
and more accessible. Online reservation systems are utilized to store and retrieve data
regarding travel services, travel service options, or lodging facilities, as well as to carry
out booking transactions. This means that everything is done online, from the minute a
consumer decides they want to reserve a slot for your service, to selecting a day,
choosing a time, and paying for the appointment. It significantly lessens your staff's
burden and eliminates the possibility of double booking.

Andatoria Bay Resort is currently located in 301 Pres M L Quezon Street, Taguig
City, Metro Manila. It is a public swimming pool where people can enjoy and relax.
Andatoria Bay Resort was built in year 2012, and the owner of Andatoria Bay Resort is
Mrs. Corazon Pagsisihan Constantino. When it comes from the name of Andatoria,
Anda – means money or older and Toria came from “Victoria” – mother of the owner
Mrs. Corazon P. Constantino.

Andatoria Bay Resort offers day and night time swimming, according to staff, during the
day they can accommodate 62 people and 81 people during the night. The default time
limit for night swimming at Andatoria Bay Resort is 12 hours; on the other hand, the time
limit is 9 hours during the day. The Andatoria Bay Resort has 15 to 20 cottages. There
is an area with a large table and seats. The resort also offers a hall that caters to
occasions like Birthday parties, Debuts Weddings, etc.

5
Whether it be via writing down the information of the consumer, manual transactions
have been an issue in some businesses. The staff members are working on a labor-
intensive activity. Data management, recording, and storage have become simpler and
faster thanks to modern technological breakthroughs. Data storage is now more
dependable and simpler than ever. In some firms, you may need to scan the written
record where the employees entered the transaction information in order to check the
progress of the transaction, it will take a long time, and the personnel will be overworked
rather than given additional work to complete. Because, manual work demands effort, it
wears down staff members' capacity to complete tasks in the allotted time. By creating a
user-friendly website for online reservations, the proposed project will enable simpler
and quicker transactions while allowing clients to view information and assess the
resort's beauty. Customers can arrange appointments and complete the form with the
given information. These will act as their foundation and prerequisites for making
reservations or bookings. Customers will obtain a receipt after completing the form that
includes the official receipt number, their address, the resort's address, and the name of
the representative.

Due to the lack of computerized development of reservation, the Proponent(s) decided

to develop and design a system called ABROR stands for Andatoria Bay Resort Online
Reservation. The programming language used in this project is PhP and MySQL for the
database.

The following are the characteristics of the project:

Interaction - Anything with which you can interact or communicate is said to be
interactive. The interactivity of the website is its best feature. You continually send
information out and receive information back. A user can interact, for instance, by
clicking on something to advance, watching a video, leaving comments on a post,
giving feedback, visiting internal links, etc.
User-friendly - A hardware component or software interface that is simple to use is
said to be "user-friendly." It is user-friendly in the sense that it is simple to learn and

6
comprehend. Although the term "user-friendly" is ambiguous, the following
characteristics are frequently present in user-friendly interfaces.

Functionality - The simplicity with which a person can navigate your website, get
the information they need, and/or make a transaction is what is meant by a website's
functionality. Websites that prioritize functionality above aesthetics or elegance
benefit consumers more.

Consistency - A consistent theory in traditional deductive logic is one that does not
result in a logical contradiction. Both semantic and syntactic definitions are
applicable to the absence of contradiction.

Everything on the server is accessible and managed by the Super Admin, including
adding and dismissing administrators. The admin cannot add or delete another admin,
but it can manage the staff. Depending on what the guests needs, the staff can fix it or
help.

2.3 Synthesis
The studies of Hernandez et al. (2014), and Virgo and Reymar Pamigao (2018)
focuses on functions and effectiveness of reservation system toward users.
Emman Anwei et al. (2019), and Ruben A. Parazo (2016) evaluates various
online reservations systems for validations, service quality, usefulness, ease of
use, online reviews, experience, and satisfaction. Rommer C. Castilloa et al.
(2014) implies in their studies the significance of having and implementing a
reservation system.

The studies of Ilemungolet, Geofrey Lokure, David (2010), Nafiseh Rezaei &
Mahsa Rohani (2017), Shen Kuilin, Zhao Hua, Shao Bo (2013), Otsyeno,
Khasenye Nicodemus (2015), and Ku Siti nor Habibah et al. (2018) emphasize
that the use of advance and computerize system lessened the time consumed

46
when it comes to the management of reservation. The studies of the mentioned
proponents’ pinpoint the system’s assistance it can provide when it comes to the
functionality and service quality once implemented.

The literature of Ronnel Teodoro et al. (2021), Bituin abi (2012), Delizo, et al.
(2013), and Lanie A Rivera (2019) emphasized that implementing a developed
system is much efficient and less tiring compared to using manual procedures.
Implementing a system can boost the productivity and resourceful of a certain
premise. It is very convenient for all online businesses to have an online billing
system (Cherry Lou Mojica, 2019).

Carlos Coronel & Steven Morris (2018) stated in their literature that a sound
database design is the foundation for a successful information system, and that
the database design must reflect the information system of which the database is
a part of the relational database model. The new perspective on web design
explores handy techniques and smart strategies derived from actual projects
(Harry Roberts, et al., 2013). As the time goes by the advertising has been
evolving and technological advances have punctuated the evolution of
advertising throughout history, each fundamentally altering the way that business
could communicate with their customers (Damian Ryan, 2015). Data Analysis
and Decision Making deliberate about on how to optimize data whether it is from
surveillance tapes, Web clicks, bar scans, public records, financial transactions,
and more (S. Christian Albright and Wayne L. Winston, 2014). Understanding of
Information Technology management is effective in some ways and techniques
with the unique approach (Katty Schwalbe, Ph.D., PMP, 2018).

CHAPTER III: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

3.1 Research Design

Research Design In order to gain a thorough understanding of the study's
findings, which may always be relevant to represent the current state of technical
analysis as it is employed in the system, the study will employ a quantitative
research approach to design, develop and implement a computerized reservation
system for Andatoria Bay Resort. To make things simpler for guests of Andatoria
Bay resorts, this study will also employ a survey that focuses on online
reservations, which can be made through a computer or cellphone. Additionally,
the study's primary tools will be researcher-made questionnaire.

48
3.2 Method Used in Development and Evaluation the Software Product
SOFTWARE MODEL (CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK PROCESS)
The proponents decided to use Spiral Model as an approach to develop a
system. Using Spiral As a modeling language can minimize and manage the
risks and errors that may arise in the future. Knowing that risks and error is
inevitable, spiral model is the most applicable model to use when it comes to
risks handling and prototype tester in every phase.

3.4 Data Gathering Procedures

The proponents start the data gathering by doing analyzation and brainstorming.
The proponents planned to determine first whether who will benefit their system
and what will be the context and flow of their project. The first stage of data
gathering the proponents took is to collect data and information from Andatoria
Bay Resort for the contents of their ongoing website and research study.

51
Therefore, the proponents wrote a request letter to the mentioned resort asking
them to become the beneficiary for the proposed project. The proponents
prepared a questionnaire that would be given to the respondents simultaneously.
As a result, the proponents assembled the results of a poll they performed, each
of which questions that may help evaluate the study's difficulty. The proponents
will total all responses according to the question in the statement of the problem.
The next stage of Data gathering the proponents took Is to look for source and
ideas through internet searching, thesis book reading and previous work
integration.

3.5 Instruments

 Hardware/Software – Any type of data that is received through the

software is entered using the proponents' hardware. Whereas data is
transformed into information by software.

52
 Internet Research – The internet can be used in a lot of different ways,
including data collection via emails, text messages, etc., where
respondents can fill out surveys online.

 Interview – The proponents undertook an interview method to gain a

better knowledge of the beneficiary's current issue and to learn more
about the best solution that might be offered.

 Library Research – The proponents used the TFVC's private library to

obtain any reference materials that might have sped up their research.

 Observation – The proponents employed observation as a tool to

determine the possible outcomes in the data gathering.

 Questionnaire – Gathering a data always needs a questionnaire

wherein the respondents answers questions all about the experience
and the feedback of the respondents.

 Previous Project Integration – Improving the previous projects

functions and applying it to the current project.

3.6 Statistical Treatment

The statistical method that is used to obtain the sample and percentage is
Slovin’s formula. Knowing that the proponents used a semi structured interview,
Slovin’s formula is the best option to use when lack of information and data
tabulation.

Slovin’s formula

53
N
n= 2
1+ Ne
n
P=
N

Whereas:

n = Sample size
N = Population size
e = Margin of error
P = Percentage
