Unleash the
value of 5G
Use cases to expand your business
Introduction
5G changes the game for everyone. For consumers, 5G supports immersive
experiences, higher mobile data rates and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity
that will revolutionize their interactions with the world around them. For
enterprises, 5G enhances 4G LTE capabilities to provide reliable wireless that
enables new IoT applications, drives industries towards the Fourth Industrial
Revolution and creates new opportunities to improve business efficiency.
The degree of prioritization and readiness relative to 5G use cases varies based
on geography and ecosystem development. But it’s clear that all operators and
enterprises need smart planning to capitalize on many new opportunities that
5G brings.
This eBook aims to help mobile operators and enterprises plan a successful journey to
5G by examining eight essential use cases for consumer and vertical markets:

Market opportunity
Wireless video surveillance is a cost-effective way to enhance safety and security in industrial sites,
campuses and public spaces. It’s also increasingly popular: ABI Research estimates that the video
surveillance market will grow from $US22.6 billion in 2016 to $US55 billion in 2023. [1]

Wireless broadband makes it possible to mount cameras on drones and land-based vehicles, or
in places that are difficult to reach with fixed cables. These cameras can provide footage that
enhances situational awareness and decision making for a variety of industries. For example,

The addition of video analytics creates more valuable applications. In factory environments,
video analytics can enhance quality, security and efficiency by enabling automatic fault detection,
intrusion detection and control of robots. In search and rescue scenarios, the combination of
camera drones and video analytics can enable first responders to efficiently survey a remote area Consumer and enterprise insights
