Grading Guide

What do I do if I’m between measurements?

You GRADE!!!

These examples are intended to aid you in grading this specific pattern only.

For other grading specific questions or scenarios,

please join Annelaine Patterns Sewing Group on
FaceBook for sewing support.

Example:
My measurements fall into a size 8 for height and a size 7 for every other measurement...
what does that grading adjustment look like?

Example:
My measurements fall into a size 7 for every measurement with the exception of hips which is
a size 8... what does that grading adjustment look like?

Pattern Features & Tips

Serger or Sewing Machine?

The following tutorial is done using

both a serger and a sewing machine.
Don’t fret if you don’t have a serger... it
isn’t necessary. It’s kind of like going to
the grocery store. You can walk, but it’s
much faster to drive (i.e. have a serger)!

If you are going to use a sewing ma-

chine alone, consider using both a
walking foot and an overcast foot. The
finished garment will look much more
“finished”.

Tips

If you haven’t discovered the beauty

that is wash away 1/4” hem tape,
consider picking some up now. It. Is.
GLORIOUS!!

We are only as good as our

meaurements. Don’t make the mistake
of just sewing the size you would
purchase at a store. Measure and
compare it against the included size
chart. Otherwise, don’t be surprised if it
doesn’t fit.

Construction

Step 1 Optional Pockets (If not adding pockets skip to STEP 5):
With right sides together, sew front pocket pieces to the front skirt
piece along the curved line only.

Step 2 (Optional Pockets).

Flip pocket pieces out so that wrong sides are together with wrong
side of skirt. Press along the curved seam and topstitch, staying
close to the fabric edge.

Step 3 (Optional Pockets).

Place back pocket piece on top of front pocket piece, right sides
together and pin/clip in place. Sew seams indicated by clips.
Repeat on second pocket.

Step 4 (Optional Pockets).

Baste pockets to skirt as shown by the clips to prevent
slipping.

Step 5.
With right sides together, sew front and back skirt pieces
together.

Step 6 Optional Bow/Faux Drawstring (if not adding skip to STEP 9).
To find the center of the waist band fold edges of long sides
together and press. Open back up.

Step 7 Optional Bow/Faux Drawstring.

Fold short sides together and press. Open back up.

Step 8 Optional Bow/Faux Drawstring.

You should now have crease marks where you pressed.
Where the creases meet up is the center of your waist band.
Sew on your tie about an inch below the horizontal crease
and directly on the verticle crease.
