The World in My Eyes

by Kam Hui Min

A very good morning we bid to the honourable judges, loyal timekeeper, respected teachers, and
my fellow audience. On this beautiful day, we are going to recite a poem entitled “The World in My
Eyes”, written by our English teacher, Miss Kam Hui Min.

In a world so big and wide,

I see happiness by my side.
With eyes full of curious and wonder,
Here's how I see the world, an endless ponder.

The sky above, so vast and blue,

The grass below, so green and true.
What’s above the sky? What’s under the ground?
In my little world, mysteries abound.

Twinkle, twinkle, little stars,

Shimmer, shimmer, lonely moon,
Why doesn’t the moon always look the same?
In my little world, mysteries bloom.

Butterflies flutter, dancing free,

Sunflowers bloom, so vibrant and bold.
How does a butterfly come to be?
In my little world, mysteries abound.

I look up and see birds flying high,

I wear and flap my costume wings,
But why can’t I join them in flight?
In my little world, mysteries take flight.

Chicken from eggs, eggs from chicken,

Which came first, the egg or the chicken,
This makes me wonder, how was I born?
In my little world, mysteries abound.
I see people rushing day and night,
Some look weary, some look delighted,
What stories lie behind each face?
In my little world, mysteries embrace.

Playing games with friends so dear,

We laugh and giggle, without fear.
Forever can we be playing around?
In my little world, mysteries abound.

I see dolphins jumping out of the sea,

The way they swim, so wild and free,
How do dolphins communicate and play?
In my little world, mysteries sway.

In books I read, new worlds I find,

Characters come alive, setting me unwind,
How do stories create a magical sound?
In my little world, mysteries abound.

My puppy boy and puppy girl,

With wagging tails and playful swirls,
Daddy, daddy, where’s my tail?
In my little world, mysteries prevail.

I wonder about the world I see,

What’s the secret of the buzzing bee?
Why does the sun rise every day?
In my little world, mysteries at play.

I wonder about the world you see,

Is it the same as what I can see,
There are lots of wonders yet to be found,
In our shared world, mysteries abound.
In every moment, there's something new,
I see the world, through eyes so true.
Too many questions, waiting to explore,
In my little world, mysteries galore.

Thank you.
