The God of Wisdom

By keylin Mora

Once upon a time, the birth of two babies brought tears of joy to a peasant couple. Far
away from being wealthy, the peasant family always strived to stand by their believes in
spite of the fact that they barely enjoyed the pleasure of life. Although Jacob and
Stephan were raised with the same values, they grew up with sightly different
personalities. On one hand, Jacob was characterized for having a pure and generous
soul. The most important thing for him was the happiness of his parents, and he
considered that respect and tolerance were the most valuable things that humans could
have. On the other hand, Stephan seemed to be the strongest brother between both of
them since his personality characteristics were more influential than his brother’s ones
were. Actually, Stephan was meant to be the predestined son that would become a
supreme god at some day.

The old legend said there was no end after death. Every person in the world was given
an immortal soul with a mortal body. They had to go through the adversity of living as a
human first until they finally got to live their eternal life either as a god or as a miserable
old devil who would be condemned to live a life of penance for their past acts. How they
conducted themselves while being humans would enormously determine their final
purpose in the next life. The legend also said that rejected people would be destined to
live a life of profound sorrow where they would be encompassed by the snares of death.

On a dark day, Jacob and his parents were working hard indeed while Stephan was
lying down under the shade of a huge tree. All of a sudden, a loud roar was heard from
the rocky mountains. The condemned souls were fast approaching, looking for taking
the lives of innocent people. When Jacob turned around, he realized his parents had
gone through the next stage like smoke when it clears. Everything turned into loneliness
and anguish. Consequently, both brothers took contrary ways. Jacob decided to spend
every second of his life helping the most needed human beings. On the other side,
Stephan took the worst of the ways. He travelled the world defrauding every feudal lord
who crossed his path.
Fifty years later, Jacob had honored his pledge with great success by the time his gray
hairs and wrinkles were visible. He knew with certainty that his death was getting closer.
He started praying for his life and even for his brother whom he never heard of again.
Immediately, his soul was as free as a bird which raised to heaven where the gold
castles existed. As the most magical moment, Jacob found himself standing in front of
an imposing and fabled castle which was hidden behind fluffy white clouds. A new era
arrived; Thot who was the god of absolute wisdom was born. In another part of the
earthly world, the only piece of Jacob’s heart left after his parents’ death became an
everlasting, ferocious storm.
