Agriculture (DA-ACEF) with a budget of 5 million pesos under University Research and
Development Office in Quirino State University. The project was proposed year 2020 and was
approved in year 2021. The said project is located near the Engineering Department, wherein
roosters and layers were present. The preferably proportion is 1 male chicken equal to 10 hens.
Free range chicken is raised outdoor and not kept on cages, where they were allowed to
roam around and forage for bugs and worms. Free-range chicken spends most of their days on
foraging outdoors for juicy worms, bugs, and tasty greens. Feeds can’t contain animal protein so
special mixture is created like azolla which contain 30% protein. Additionally, chickens are
omnivores and will eat anything, including grasshoppers, worms, and even thick. These insects
not only offer nourishment but also a chance for our free-range hens to practice foraging, which
is one of their natural instincts. hen's need for health and the quality of her eggs may start to
suffer if it doesn't consume enough of the right nutrients that a hen needs in its diet. Hens that are
malnourished or underfed might develop sick, lose their feathers, and become lethargic. They
may lay fewer eggs, and what eggs their bodies do give can vary in size and quality.
There are advantages of free-range chickens. They eat less feed which the
part of the chicken will come down from roosting in the early morning and eat a little feed and
come back in the evening hours and take a few more bites. Less need to grit when chickens can
roam around and pick up sand, small rocks, and pebbles. There are also disadvantages of free-
range chicken. Egg hunting is a disadvantage because they don't have a proper laying place or
area. Eating unwanted plants like gardens, flowers, herbal and other plants. Making a mess and
scratching in landscaped areas, chickens love to scratch up holes and dust in them.
