You have successfully passed your advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) certification course and

received your credentials to practice as an APRN. Although you have worked in a hospital for several

years, you are interested in pursuing other practice areas and have received several requests for

interviews. To prepare for your formal interview. you are creating a list of questions to ask the

interviewer. You identified the practice specialty, environment, and patient population in your first

telephone interview. What other questions should you ask?

Questions:

1. What medical record systems will I be using?

2. What are some significant challenges your nurses currently face?

3. What kinds of shifts are offered for nurses?

4. How many nurses currently work overtime?

5. What are your current staffing ratios?

6. Are there weekend rotation requirements?

7. What type of culture of patients do you usually get?

8. How many percentages of pediatric patients are involved?

9. What are the common concerns of the patients?

10. What are the protocols in this clinic?
