Welcome Back to St. E!

I say Welcome Back because some of you will be traveling from all corners of the US: CA, KY, UT, FL, KS, NY, TX, MD, and beyond. Of course, many of your fellow CYOers are still in the parish - a wonderful testament to the incredibly strong faith community built by you, your parents and grandparents. Rest assured that todays St. E is strong, healthy and thriving. Our school has changed over the years, adding K and pre-K classes as well as significantly expanding the curriculum and aligning with current teaching best practices and methods. We now have a science lab, computers, sports teams, and of course a beautiful gymnasium - where many of you went to Mass, in Latin. Our faculty now is lay but Im sure the stories will be flying during your reunion about the many personalities and legendary characters of your years at St. E School. While much has changed, the focus on excellence, discipline, and character building that were a key part of your years at St. E remain at the core of the school experience. You will have an opportunity to reminisce about all of this as you tour the school and as your St. E Permanent Records are handed out at the reunion. Thank you for using this activity as a fundraiser for the school. For those of you who have not been back to St. E for awhile, you might notice that the parish has made a small little addition to the property on the corner of Pontoon and Johnson Roads. This effort, guided by then-pastor Fr. Tom Liebler in 2002, finally realized Fr. Mattinglys dream of a proper church fifty years after his arrival at St. Elizabeth. Its wonderful that so many of you are coming home for the 40 CYO reunion. I hear that many of you are using the CYO Reunion as an opportunity for your own family reunions. Even 40 years later, St. E. CYO is playing an important role in your life. I hope 40 years from now, in 2051, I too have the opportunity to come back to St. E to be reunited with so many good St. E friends. Welcome home!
