    SHIP SPECIFIC LOCAL PROCEDURE

    LIFEBOAT ENGINE STARTING PROCEDURE

    1. Inform bridge and engine room duty officer before starting lifeboat engine.
    2. Remove the battery charger plug before starting engine.
    3. Check fuel oil, lube oil levels, if necessary fill as required.
    4. Select any one battery using selector switch.
    5. Turn the starting knob to preheat position.
    6. Now turn the starting knob to START position.
    7. If lifeboat engine is not starting on one battery, select both battery together
    using both selector switch and start again.
    8. Check AHEAD and ASTERN operation of propeller, also PORT and STBD
    movement of wheel.
    9. Pull the flame out lever to stop the engine.
