The version V100R008C00SPC260 for multimode base stations corresponds to the version
V200R015C00SPC260 for NodeBs.
This upgrade guide describes how to upgrade a NodeB on the local maintenance terminal
(LMT).
To ensure that the NodeB can be upgraded properly using the LMT, the version of the
web browser running on the PC on which the LMT software is installed (LMT PC for
short) must meet the following requirements:
− Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or 9
− FireFox 3.0 or later
Check whether the local maintenance IP address of the source NodeB has been changed
before an upgrade. If it was changed, obtain the new IP address.
The default maintenance IP addresses are 192.168.0.49 and 17.21.2.15 and the mask is
255.255.255.0.
Or :
Log on WEB LMT using name and Password of the default values admin and hwbs@com
(or NodeB ).
During the upgrade, wait for the command response and check whether the command runs
successfully before you run the next command. If the command fails, follow the
instructions provided in this guide.
Do not perform any configuration operations, such as running ADD, MOD, RMV, or
SET commands during an upgrade. Perform operations on the NodeB only when the
NodeB software status is displayed as Idle. Therefore, log in to the LMT and run the
DSP SOFTSTATUS command to query the NodeB software status before performing
any operation.
When upgrading the NodeB software, do not:
− Power off the NodeB.
− Manually restarting the main control board.
− Connect or disconnect optical fibers.
− Reset the NodeB or a board in the NodeB by running commands or pressing the
board reset button.
If there is a standby main control board, check whether it is available before the upgrade.
If the upgrade fails or the network performance seriously deteriorates in the dialing test
after the upgrade, a version rollback is recommended.
The rollback depends on the real situations of the network and the requirements of the
customer. For details about how to perform the rollback, see chapter Error: Reference
source not found"Error: Reference source not found."
The screenshots in this document assume that the NodeB version is BTS3900
V100R008C00SPC260.
Step 6
If the icon is displayed on the right of the taskbar after the software starts, the FTP server
has started successfully.
NOTE
If the icon is displayed on the right of the taskbar, the FTP server has not started. If this occurs, check
whether other FTP software is running on the PC. If other FTP software is running, exit it. Then, right-
click this icon and choose Start FTP server from the shortcut menu to start the FTP server.
Step 4 Right-click and choose FTP server configure from the shortcut menu. The FTP server configuration
dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 1-1.
Set the User name and Password to the default values admin and hwbs@com
respectively.
Set Port number to the default value 21.
The port number is set according to the mapping between the FTP server IP addresses
and ports. For details, see Error: Reference source not found and Step 5.
Specify the file path in which the software package is stored, for example, D:\ftp.
NOTE
The FTP server working directory and the file path in which the software package is stored must be the
same. Otherwise, you cannot download the NodeB software package.
Step 5 If the FTP server IP address is 192.168.0.50 or the IP address of the PC where the LMT for the upgrade is
installed, set Port number to the destination port number in the command output, as shown in Figure 1-1.
Step 6 Click OK. In the displayed FTP password authentication dialog box, enter the FTP password. Then click
OK.
Step 7 Complete the configuration. If the system displays "Modified successfully!", click OK. If the system
displays "The password is incorrect!", enter the correct FTP password and click OK.
Table 1-1describes the procedure for upgrading the NodeB.
CAUTION
ALM-26202 Board Overload alarm may be generated when:
Downloading the NodeB software package
Activating the NodeB software
Activating the board software
The alarm is automatically cleared after the upgrade.
CAUTION
An unexpected reset of a board during the BootROM upgrade process may lead to damage to
the BootROM software or failure to start up the board. In this case, send the faulty board to
Huawei for maintenance.
NOTE
Download the V100R008C00SPC240 version file package, which contains the Firmware.csp, Software.csp, and vercfg.xml files, to a specified path. For details, see section 1.1.4
Step 4 In the FTP Server Configuration area, set FTP server associated parameters as follows:
Set IP Address to the IP address of the LMT PC.
Set User Name to the user name of the FTP server.
Set Password to the password of the FTP server.
NOTE
Set User Name, Password, and File Path to the same values as those specified in section
1.5 "Confirming the FTP Status."
Step 5 Click the Upgrade BootROM tab and set the upgrade options on the displayed tab page as follows:
1. Select the Download BOOTROM and Activate BOOTROM check boxes.
2. Enter the BootROM package path (for example, D:\ftp\ BootROM) in the File path box,
as shown in
Figure 1-1.
Assume that the software is successfully activated. After the base station is reset, the base
station automatically rolls back to the source version if the base station fails to connect to the
M2000 and no LMT logs in to the base station within 30 minutes.
Step 4 In the FTP Server Configuration area, set FTP server associated parameters as follows:
Set IP Address to the IP address of the LMT PC.
Set User Name to the user name of the FTP server.
Set Password to the password of the FTP server.
NOTE
Set User Name, Password, and File Path to the same values as those specified in section 1.5.2
"Configuring the FTP Server."
Step 5 In the Download and Active Software area, set upgrade associated parameters as follows:
1. Select Download Version Software and Activate Version Software check boxes.
2. (Optional)Select Download Configuration File and Activate Configuration File check
boxes.
3. When the UMPT works as the main control board, set Delay Download by Flag to
YES(Delay Download). When the WMPT works as the main control board, this option
does not exist.
NOTE
When Delay Download by Flag is set to YES(Delay Download), the upgrade duration shortens by
approximately 10 minutes. As a result, only the basic functions of the LMT are available after the
upgrade. However, LMT files will be automatically supplemented on the NodeB four hours after the
upgrade. If all LMT functions are required in an emergency, run the SPL SOFTWARE command
immediately after the upgrade completes.
By default, the NO(Do Not Supply Delay-Supported File) check box is selected, that is, LMT files are
not supplemented by default. LMT files can be supplemented only after the YES(Supply Delay-
Supported File) check box is selected.
4. Set Software Version to BTS3900 V100R008C00SPC260.
Step 6 Click Execute to start the upgrade, which takes about 40 minutes.
The upgrade process is displayed in the Message area. When the upgrade progress reaches
100% and the upgrade is successful, the NodeB resets and disconnects from the LMT PC.
After NodeB software is activated, the NodeB automatically resets which takes about four minutes (for
reference only), and the services are interrupted.
