- I’d always hear people discussing and referencing the classic
literary works of the popular British author Sir Athur Conan Doyle, said discussions are what initially spiked my inquisitive side to look deeper into his writing. After looking into his work, one wildly known book series stood out for me, which was his frequently talked about, infamous fictional character Sherlock Holmes. Most have definitely heard of some of his most famous quotes which are “The game is afoot” and “you see but you do not observe” After deciding to read it I took it upon myself to understand all of the characters actions and thought process. The slightly old sophisticated dialogue and detective Sherlock’s impeccable and inexplicable deduction skills made reading even more enjoyable. Naturally, after a while of digging deeper into the fascinating character and plot I became instantly hooked and proceeded to indulge in all of the other adaptations of the series , such as the movies and TV show based on his adventures alongside his trusty side kick John Watson which painted vivid mental images and placed faces onto what I was imagining whilst reading. First published in 1887, The book series shaped and impacted literature greatly, and thus holds incredible historical importance.
