Araminta Ross AKA Harriet Tubman or Moses of her
people was born in Dorchester, Maryland, USA in
1822.

She was born a slave and helped other black people


escape from slavery when slavery was legal in North
America between 1776 until 1865.

At just thirteen she was trying to help another slave


from receiving punishment and she got hit in the
head with a two pound iron weight and was left with
narcolepsy that caused her hallucinate, she claimed
to see and speak with God.
Harriet escaped about thirteen times and saved about seventy people
from slavery in 13 trips that were 145 km long with the help of
antislavery activists and safe houses in the Underground Railroad she
managed to save all these people and survive.

When the slave owners realized that Harriet and many slaves were
missing, they knew that Harriet was helping slaves escape so they
offered 300 dollars to anyone who could find her.
Harriet spent the rest of her
life in Auburn, New York.
She became a women's
suffrage activist and
became an icon of courage
and freedom, and in her last
mission she guided a raid
which liberated more than
700 enslaved people.

Harriet was one of many symbols of freedom, many women
like Rosa Parks, women like Anarcha, Lucy and Betsy, etc,
that showed the world that black people and black women
are important.
