Em minha carreira musical ja gravei 25 L.Ps., pasando pelas mals diversas fases da misica popular brasileira, desde 1959. No comeco, como solista de violdo, interpretei quase que exclusivamente composigdes de outros autores. Numa segunda etapa, com o surgimento da bossa nova, passel a incluir algumas misicas minhas, cantadas. Recentemente, fazendo uma aniilise de todo o mex trabalho como miasico, senti que faltava alguma coisa importante: a dedicacdo mais centralizada na area de composicao instrumental. Daio surgimento de um projeto nese sentido, a que det o nome de TONS E SEMITONS. ‘Trata-se de um trabalho estruturado basicameate no langamento de wm LP. de solos de violdo, produzido em conjunto com a Fred Rosst Produgées Ltda. - empresa com a qual tenho me relacionado em diversos outros empreendimentos ligados 4 atividade musical. Nesse diseo, todo o repertério é constituido de composiges de minha autoria, quase todas inéditas, O projeto TONS E SEMITONS, porém, estaria incompleto se no inchuisse também as edicdes dessas misicas, ampliando assim 0 sex raio de agio aos violonistas mais habituados com a escrita de partituras Como eu nunea me especializei nesse setor, senti que nao poderia realizar esse trabalho soztaho, Para isso contet com a valiosa colaboracao de um grande amigo, o volonlsta Luis ‘arlos Santos. During my musical career, 25 albums were recorded throughout all different phases of the Brazilian popular music, since 1959. Asa guitarist, initially performed - almost exclusively - the work of other writers. Later on, and with the introduction of the Bossa Nova, I started to include some of my own compositions, with the lirics. Inasecent evaluation of my work as a musician, I felt something important was missing; to concentrate my efforts in instrumental pieces, ‘The idea of such a project was thus born, and given the name of TONES AND SEMITONES. The work was structured towards recording an albus of guitar solos, produced in association with Fred Rossi Producbes Ltda, with whom I have worlted in a series of other music related activities. The repertory of the album consists of pieces written by me, most of which still unpublished. Project TONES AND SEMITONES would be incomplete however, if it did not also include de publication of the compositions, thus reaching out to guitar players who are familiar swith the writing of scores. Considering my experience In this area is limited, I felt I could not ventuce into iton my owa, Lwas fortunate to count with the valuable support of a very close friend, the guitarist Luis Carlos Santos. His knowledge and thorough devotion made the finalization of the work possible, reproducing on the stave, my arrangements included in the album. Its important.to note that another factor which contributed to the uniformity of the project TONES AND SEMITONES was the participation of Editora Cultural Musical, a publisher truely identified with the high level of the work I set my self to perform.
