    Miguel Grau was a Peruvian naval officer born in 1834 in Piura to Juan Manuel Grau and Luisa Seminario del Castillo. He had 11 children with his wife Dolores Cavero Nuñez. Grau is considered a hero for giving his life in the 1879 Battle of Angamos during the Pacific War between Peru and Chile, where he commanded his ship until it sank and he went down with it, rather than surrender.
