Timely. To ensure these interventions to encourage design behavior that reduces greenhouse gas
emissions are as effective as they can be, sbp has attempted to introduce information and tools to
engineers in a timely manner. Reductions in project embodied carbon are most effective when
considered at the earliest opportunities (Bragança, Vieira and Andrade 2014), so spb has
introduced embodied carbon and LCA information at the earliest stages of the project. Each new
project at sbp is assigned a pair of sustainability officers, and it is the project lead’s responsibility
