The constant pressure on mechanically memo- rizing heavy lessons is now considered not only needless but injurious, too. It annihilates the spontaneity and inquisitiveness of students. The old type of writing drills is now non-productive. It cannot grow the learners’ interest in writing and their individual skill, “The Essays Letters and Stories for Beginners” is scientifically schemed to develop the writing skill of young students. I have read the book thoroughly. Lucidity and simplicity of the language has delighted me much. The book covers the requirements of the young learnersand I do hope this will enable them to learn the English language well. I wish its wide circulation. Rabera Netai Pada Bhowmik — March 11,.1993 Senior Teacher R. K. Mission Boys’ Home School, Rabara Formerly Teacher, R. K. Mission Vidyapith Deoghar, Bihar . Ex-Headmaster, Hijiguri Railway High School. Tinsukia, Assam, PREFACE Books on composition for young students are really very few in number. The “Essays Letters and Stories for Beginners” has been brought out for ‘satisfying the needs of the pupils who have just started doing a little bit of com- position in schools. Efforts have been made to make the composition of the book as sweet and simple as possible. The book contains a large variety of topics on essays, letters and stories. I would like to convey my deep sense of gratitude to my publishers for undertaking the publication of the book. I am also immensely grateful to my very respected colleague, Sri N. P, Bhaumik for writing a Foreward to my book. The author of this book will always welcome any sugges- tion from any of his well-wishers for betterment of quality of the book. R.
