ARCTIC COMEDY - FEMALE #2/SIAJA

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS:

● Please hold the device horizontally (landscape), not

vertically, and frame your head and shoulders.
● Have your eyeline just a little off-camera versus into the
lens.
● If possible, have a plain background, and avoid a bright
window.
● Keep your audition very natural and conversational.
● Be sure the person reading with you stands beside camera
and isn’t louder than you are.
● We want real people so don’t worry about fancy clothes or
makeup. Come as you are and have fun!
● Finish with a slate stating:
1. Your name

17 EXT. ARCTIC OCEAN - OPEN WATER - LATER *

Sc. 1 Ting’s boat glides by stunning snow-capped mountains. Ting

sits at the wheel with his binoculars, scanning the water.
START He looks over at Siaja.

TING
Isn’t this great? Look at our life.
We’re so lucky, right?
(offering his phone)
Take a picture of me.

He strikes a pose, staring moodily off into the distance.

TING (CONT’D)
Atii (hurry).

Siaja quickly snaps some photos, then hands back the phone.

SIAJA
Ting.

TING
(scrolling & posting)
I look so good! Hashtag KingTing,
hashtag InukHunter, hashtag
IceIceBaby.

SIAJA
I need to talk to you.

TING
(eyes on his cell)
Hmmm?

SIAJA
I’m trying to get a job at the
Community Centre.

Ting’s head snaps up.

TING
What?

Siaja rushes to explain herself before she gets cut off.

SIAJA
I need to do something with my life!
Something besides being a wife and
mother.

TING
--You can’t get a job. Not now.

Bun was in school. She’s seven!

TING
Ok... I was going to wait to tell you
and Bun together. But...
(pauses for effect)

WTF? Siaja is dead confused.

SIAJA
...I’m not pregnant Ting.

TING
It’s my cousin! She’s expecting and
she asked us to adopt. I said yes!

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK.

SIAJA
Without talking to me first?!

TING

Siaja’s head is spinning.

TING (CONT’D)
And Bun needs this. It’s no good for
her to be an only kid -

SIAJA

Ting acts like Siaja just confessed to murder.

TING

Siaja sees a flash of movement behind him.

Sc. 2
Siaja looks at herself in the mirror. Her hair and makeup
START are done and she’s wearing a deep v-neck shirt of Colin’s.

SIAJA
I look like a different person.

COLIN
Jason thinks it’s too slutty on me.

SIAJA
Ting would say that too. But New Siaja
is done being told what to do.

COLIN
Hell yeah.

Siaja turns towards the door, a party rages behind it.

SIAJA
Let’s do this.

COLIN
Hold on rookie. It’s been a while
since you’ve partied. Let’s see if you
remember the basics.

COLIN (CONT’D) SIAJA

COLIN (CONT’D) SIAJA (CONT’D)
