Dear Educators,

When examining the discourse about the influence of creative writing on elementary

school students, it becomes apparent that conversing has a crucial role in creating arguments on

the facets of creative writing. The conversations offer insight as to possible challenges a student

might encounter, without educators being able to integrate creative writing activities into their

curriculum to enhance students’ writing skills. The main point of these deliberations build upon

the finding from the study "Effects of Creative Writing Activities on Students’ Achievements in

Writing, Writing Disposition, and Attitude to English," conducted by Tok, Surkran, and Anil

Kandemir. This study serves as the starting point as a supporting claim for new arguments which

support the positive impacts of creative writing on attitudes, test-fluency, and self- expression.

The central theme of this conversation revolves around creative writing and its diverse

approach. Specifically, the articles create a relationship between creative writing and teaching

strategies, such as the incorporation of poetry and other creative writing forms from a textbook.

The approaches allow for valuable feedback and engagement, contributing to students’

development as a skilled writer. As a result, this understanding leads to new dialogue within a

teacher’s curriculum which promotes discussions on how creative writing can be effectively

combined to promote positive student attitudes toward writing.

While analyzing each article and their interconnections between each other, there is a

subject matter that emerges about the significance of creative writing. The studies analyze the

necessity for educators to recognize the individual circumstances of each writer. Regardless of

variation of expression that each article demonstrates, the theme about creative writing potential

unified these perspectives. For instance, the articles show ways in which addressing writing

difficulties align with the improvement of positive attitudes toward creative writing.

The conversation navigates through the distinct yet interconnected ideas about assessing

student struggles as mentioned in Nathalie Ologhoue and Tanaya Santangelo’s

article,“Assessing the Writing of Struggling Writers,” and exploring teacher impacts on

elementary school students , as mentioned in Gocen and Goken’s article, “The Effects of

Creative Writing Activities On Elementary School Students’ Creative Writing Achievement,

Writing Attitude, and Motivation”. As the conversation continues, additional ideas about

imaginative thinking, self-awareness, and confidence are incorporated to show the benefits that

creative writing offers.

This synthesis of ideas, highlights the importance of creative writing activities and their

diverse offering. It is evident that engaging in conversations across sources generates new

insights and ideas. Through this research, my perspective on the significance of creative writing

in elementary schools became positive. The diverse topics within this conversation connect to

convey you teachers. Looking ahead, I expect further research delving into diverse methods for

motivating children in school, capitalizing on creative expressions found in their writing.

Essentially, this reflective analysis aims to show why incorporating creative writing into your

curriculum is crucial for the educational journey of your students.

Sincerely,
