We desire to call the special attention of the publie to the importance of good writing, for we feel that this is one of the most, if uot ¢e most, im portant branches constituting any young man's or woman’s education. Tet a person be ever so well versed in accounts; -his knowledge is of little value to him unless he writes a good hand. It is not an exaggerated statement, but one that is supported by facts, to say that a good hand writing helps more young men and women to positions in our counting houses and business offices than any other qualification. Realizing these facts, how inaportant it becomes, then, for every young man to acquire an elegant style of writing. This is in the reach of every young man and woman Writing is not a “natural gift.” Any one can learn to write and you can learn, You perhaps have never had the proper instruction or encour- agement. By purchasing our Compendium and following the method out- lined therein, you cannot fail to learn to write, and write well. You will be made, surprised to see how plain everything MiIiltls’s SYvSsTEeM OF > PENMANSHIP< Not many years ago beautiful writing was made with taborious-care, the pen being lifted once or more to form each letter. Now a different plan is adopted. By much study and skill a system of writing has been per- fected which combines elegance and rapidity in their highest degree, and so natural is it to adopt this system, that any one with ordinary intelligence can lean to write a good hand ‘The commercial colleges have turned out many good writers, but an- other means of instruction is needed to reach the community as a whole, ‘There are others with small means who desire instruction whereby they may improve themselves in the art of calligraphy, and to them the system advocated in Mills’s Compendium will prove of much benefit. ? and find one another and learn together the mearing of lobe, neber fail to Hold love precious. yo flame of it never grow dim, but burn in theit heart S an untvabering devotion and shine through their epes in gentleness and understanding on which no shadow falls.
