On the Southerly Island, the climate is warm and wet, which means the farmers can grow flowers in
their fields all year round. Local workers pick the flowers by hand, and they are flown by plane to be
sold thousands of kilometers away in Northland, where the climate is too clod to grow flowers
outdoors for much of the year.
