1. Explain the effect (i) of intensity of light on photoelectric current, (ii) potential on
photoelectric current and (iii) frequency of incident radiation on stopping potential.
2. Write the points on the failure of wave theory to explain photoelectric effect.
3. Write Einstein equation for photoelectric effect. And explain the effect of intensity ,
threshold frequency and kinetic energy on the basis of this experiment.
4. Derive the publication for material particles and define de broglie wavelength.
5. Introduce and expression for the de broglie wavelength of an electron accelerated through a
potential difference of V volt.
6. Electrons are emitted from a photosensitive surface when it is illuminated by green light but
electron emission does not take place by yellow light. will the electrons be emitted when
the surface is illuminated by red light and blue light.
7. How does the maximum kinetic energy of electrons emitted very with the work function of
the metal. What is the effect on the velocity of photoelectrons if the wavelength of ancient
light is decreased.
8. Define laws of photoelectric emission. Obtain an expression for the threshold frequency for
photoelectric emission in terms of the work function of the metal.
9. Radiation of frequency 10¹⁵ Hz is incident on three photosensitive surfaces A, B and C.
Following observations are recorded:
Surface A: no photoemission occurs
Surface B: photoemission occurs but the photoelectrons have zero kinetic energy.
Surface C: photo emission occurs and photoelectrons have some kinetic energy.
Using Einstein’s photo-electric equation, explain the three observations.
10. Plot a graph showing variation of de broglie wavelength associated with a charged particle of
mass m, versus 1/√V, where V is the potential difference through which the particle is
accelerated.
11. A proton and a neutron are associated through the same accelerating potential which one of
the two has, greater value of de broglie wavelength associated with it and less momentum
justify your answer.
