PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT
Recruitment of Graduates
The recruitment of Graduates is managed in accordance with the HMM Social and Labour Plan and
operations budget requirements. It will include c e HMM B a , e l ee child e a d l cal
communities and follow the HMM Recruitment procedure.
The contract of employment will be fixed-term for the duration of the training and development program
which will be 3 years for Electrical, Mechanical and Mining Graduates and 2 years for all other disciplines.
Graduates will be issued with a relevant discipline specific Graduate Training Program which outlines the
minimum requirements to complete the program and which must be signed off by the Graduates and
Coaches.
Graduates will be allocated to Mentors who will oversee their training and development and allocate them
to specific areas and coaches to complete their training and development programs.
It is a requirement that the Graduate and Mentor must enter into a formal mentorship agreement to
manage the process and meet at least once a month to manage and monitor progress against Training
Program, address issues of concern and assign projects or next assignments.
The Mentors will allocate Graduates to specific work areas and Coaches who will oversee the day-to-day
training and development of the Graduates and expose them to Training Program requirements and further
opportunities.
It is the responsibility of the Graduates to monitor and manage their development programs. The time that
is allocated to a section should not be exceeded unnecessarily by the Graduate.
All external training and exposure must be approved by the Coach, Mentor and Training before
commencement.
Graduates are required to attend an annual Graduates residential program in their 1 st and 2nd year of the

Graduates are also required to prepare presentations to present in the quarterly Steering committee
meetings and regularly engage with their Coaches, Mentors and Training in respect of progress,
challenges and issues and next projects or assignments.
Graduates are required to complete and sign-off all the areas in the Graduates Training Program and a
performance evaluation conducted to successfully complete the program. The performance evaluations
shall be conducted quarterly and 3 months before the completion of the program to sign-off successful
completion.
Graduates are allowed to apply for relevant vacancies 6 months before the completion of their programs,
provided they have completed 3 quarters of the Training program and demonstrate the ability to perform in
those positions.
At the end of the Training Programs, Graduates:
Will be given preference for relevant vacant positions but still need to apply.
Where there are no vacancies, Graduates will be carried over complement in a Graduate position,
subject to budget and individual performance, for up to a maximum period of 6 months or seconded to
other roles.
If there is still no vacancy available at the end of this period, Graduates will be offered any other roles
which could include, operator roles where applicable.
If no roles are available, Graduates will be released into the market and their contracts terminated.
Management of Graduates
The Graduates Steering Committee is established, chaired by the Operations Managers and including
Mentors, Training and Graduates to manage the Graduates Development Program. It is compulsory for
Graduates to attend the committee meetings. The focus of the steering committee is for Graduates to:
The committee members will evaluate the Graduates performance and provide relevant feedback.
The Graduates Forum is established by the Graduates to provide moral, technical and social support,
coaching and assistance to the Graduates and is managed by the Graduates. It is supported by
management and encouraged to ensure the Graduates Development Program is beneficial to the
Graduates and operations and successful.

Compile quarterly and monthly Training Plans and agree with Mentor and Coach.
Provide Training Plans monthly and quarterly progress reports.
Prepare and attend performance reviews and Graduates Steering committee meetings.
Plan obtain approval and book required training.
Ensure adherence, completion and sign-off of Training Programs.
Take responsibility and ownership of the Training Program.
Participate in annual Graduates residential events and complete assignments.
Plan and Allocate Graduates to Site- Develop Quarterly Training Plans.
