Introductory Information on World Explorers

In this unit we will be learning about world explorers. The period we will be learning about is called the Age
of Discovery. Sometimes this is also called the Age of Exploration. Between the 1400s and 1700s, explorers
embarked on long journeys to visit far-off lands. Most explorers came from Europe; however, as we will learn,
others came from Africa and Asia.

The explorers faced many obstacles and took great risks. Some would die while
others would become rich and famous. The Age of Discovery and these world
explorers would change the course of human history forever.
