Objectives: learners will:


- Know how-to write effective paragraphs
- Understand the notions of Topic sentence and supporting ideas
- Understand how to use appropriately transition sentences and words

STOP AND WORK 01

In groups of three (03) people, discuss the following questions


1- What are the different parts of essay writing?
2- Clearly explain the stages in each part you identify (say what should be put
inside)

INTRODUCTION ( hook , problem, outline)
DEVELOPMENT ( paragraphs : Topic sentences , supporting details,
connectors/transition words/ sentences , concluding sentence )
CONCLUSION ( summary , personal point of view , opening )

With your neighbor, read the sentences and decide what is the Topic and what
is the controlling idea

1- The students of DASI are qualified


2- There are many reasons why pollution in ABC Town the worst in the world
is.
3- Fortune hunters encounter many difficulties when exploring a shipwreck.

Ex: There are three reasons why Canada is one of the best countries in
the world. First, Canada has an excellent health care system. All
Canadians have access to medical services at a reasonable price. Second,
Canada has a high standard of education. Students are taught by well-
trained teachers and are encouraged to continue studying at university.
Finally, Canada's
cities are clean and efficiently managed. Canadian cities have many parks
and lots of space for people to live. As a result, Canada is a desirable
place to live
III- APLLICATION
Read this quotation: “Technology is a double edge tool”
Do the activities that follow
1. a short Introduction (3 to 5 lines)
2. In the development Section, write 02 paragraphs with 02 arguments each
4. Use well-chosen connectors as discussed in the course
5. Write a short conclusion according to the recommendations of the course
