COMPARATIVE MODELS OF POLICING. BSCRIM-1C

ESSAY ON TRANSNATIONAL CRIME
CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN
Interpol's response to crimes against children:

Victim identification. The identification of young victims portrayed in sexual abuse material is a top
priority for law enforcement, as it can also help locate the perpetrators. Crucial to our work is the
International Child Sexual Exploitation image database, which uses sophisticated image comparison
software to make connections between victims and places. Prevention of access to child material online
is complementary to investigative work, and stops re-victimization of the children abused. We work
closely with Internet service providers to block access to child abuse material online. The INTERPOL
Specialists Group on Crimes Against Children meets annually to facilitate and enhance the investigation
of sexual crimes against children. Gathering law enforcement, regional and international organizations,
NGOs, the private sector and academia, the group identifies new trends and techniques and develops
best practice. Some sex offenders will cross borders to abuse children, allowing them to stay out of sight
of their home authorities and gain unsupervised access to children. INTERPOL can issue a Green Notice
to warn about a person’s criminal activities, where the person is considered a threat to children, or a
Blue Notice to collect information on a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a crime. At
the request of a member country, we can issue a Yellow Notice to help locate missing persons,
especially minors. These notices are circulated on an international basis and recorded in our database of
missing and abducted children. We also work closely with our member countries and partners to protect
minors from being trafficked and exploited for labour.

As a Filipino citizen here are some of my ways/suggestions to solve crimes against children.

Strong cybersecurity measures are essential to develop efficient methods and technologies, to identify,
stop, and report online child abuse and pornography. The government, technology companies, and
internet service providers should work together, and they should also create public emergency hotlines
for the citizens to easily report someone who violates wherever they are.The government should also
impose more efforts to combat online child exploitation, including the development of advanced
technological tools to detect and track offenders. Collaboration between technology companies and law
enforcement agencies can help develop innovative solutions and increase online safety for children.

Public awareness and Education. - Conducting public awareness campaigns and educational programs
targeted at children, parents, teachers, and communities can help raise awareness about child safety
and signs of abuse. By the way of educating people we can possibly decrease the number of the children
who got victimized. One example of education for parents is that they should not post undressed
pictures of their children on social media. I will also use my voice and influence to raise awareness about
the importance of child protection within my community. I will participate in relevant discussions, and
encourage others to join the cause, and engage with local schools, community centers, and government
agencies to promote child safety measures and policies. Uneducated children and youths are most likely
vulnerable to various forms of child exploitation and abuse. Due to poverty, the parents sell their
children or force their children to work for their daily lives. The government should make education free
for everyone, like here in the Philippines. I also suggest making a law that prohibits the posting of nude
child pictures and videos on the internet, or I should say, create a filter-like setting on the internet in our
country to filter out that kind of content.
