2. What are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the small
rice mill business?
According to the owner of the small rice business, one of the strengths of their
business is that a lot of customers are always choosing to buy from them, but as part of
their weakness, a lack of manpower in accommodating the customers, especially during its
peak hour of selling, makes her so tired because she alone manages the business and
causes the customers to go to other rice selling stores that are their competitors.
The owner of the small rice business has identified a significant strength in the form of a
loyal customer base. Customers consistently choose to buy from their business, indicating
a level of trust and satisfaction. However, there is also a notable weakness identified,
which revolves around a lack of manpower to accommodate customers, particularly during
peak hours of selling.
Let's break down the situation:
Strength:
Customer Loyalty: The fact that a lot of customers consistently choose to buy from the
small rice business is a substantial strength. This could be attributed to various factors
such as product quality, pricing, customer service, or the business's reputation in the
community.

Weakness:
Manpower Shortage: The identified weakness is a lack of sufficient staff to handle
customer demands, especially during peak hours. This can lead to several challenges:
Owner Fatigue: Managing a business alone, especially during busy periods, can be
physically and mentally exhausting for the owner. This fatigue can impact decision-making,
service quality, and overall business performance.
Customer Service Challenges: With limited manpower, providing prompt and efficient
customer service becomes a challenge. Customers may experience longer wait times, and
the overall experience may be affected negatively.

7
Loss of Potential Sales: The inability to efficiently handle the influx of customers during
peak hours could result in missed sales opportunities. Customers who experience delays
or crowded conditions may choose to go to other rice-selling stores, including competitors.
Possible Solutions:
a) Staff Hiring: Consider hiring additional staff, especially during peak hours, to help
manage the increased customer demand. This could involve part-time or temporary
employees to provide support during busy periods.
b) Technology Integration: Explore the use of technology solutions such as point-of-
sale systems, online ordering platforms, or mobile payment options to streamline
transactions and reduce the time customers spend in the store.
c) Extended Operating Hours: Consider extending operating hours or adjusting the
schedule to distribute customer flow more evenly throughout the day, reducing the
impact of peak hours.
d) Customer Communication: Transparently communicate with customers about
efforts to improve service, such as hiring additional staff or implementing new
processes. This can help manage expectations and retain customer loyalty.
By addressing the weakness of limited manpower, the business can enhance its capacity
to meet customer demands, improve overall customer satisfaction, and maintain its
competitive edge in the market.

3. How do you measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the marketing

campaign for your business?
According to the owner she is basing the effectiveness of the marketing campaign of
their business through the feedback from their costumers, comments from them are the
basis for improving the business.
Relying on customer feedback as the primary measure of marketing campaign
effectiveness is a valuable approach for continuous improvement. Here's an expansion on
how feedback from customers serves as a basis for enhancing a small rice business:
Customer Satisfaction:

8
Customer feedback provides direct insights into the satisfaction levels of those who
have interacted with the business. Positive comments indicate areas of success, while
negative feedback highlights potential areas for improvement.

Identifying Strengths:
Positive comments and compliments shed light on the aspects of the business that
resonate well with customers. This could include product quality, customer service, pricing,
or other factors that contribute to customer satisfaction.

Pinpointing Weaknesses:
Critical or negative comments pinpoint specific areas where the business may be
falling short. Whether it's related to service, product availability, or other concerns, this
feedback helps identify weaknesses that need attention.

Understanding Customer Preferences:

Comments often reveal customer preferences, allowing the business to tailor its
offerings to better align with what customers value. This understanding is crucial for
refining marketing strategies and product offerings.
Operational Improvements:
Operational feedback, such as comments on wait times, order processing, or
overall customer experience, guides operational improvements. This is crucial for
streamlining processes and ensuring a smooth customer journey.
Innovation and Adaptation:
Comments that suggest new ideas or innovations provide the business with
opportunities for growth. This feedback can spark creative solutions and adaptations to
better meet customer needs and expectations.
Customer Loyalty and Retention:
Positive feedback often correlates with customer loyalty. Understanding what
customers appreciate helps in building strategies to retain existing customers, which is
often more cost-effective than acquiring new ones.

9
Word-of-Mouth Marketing:
Satisfied customers are more likely to become advocates for the business. Positive
feedback can contribute to positive word-of-mouth marketing, which is a powerful driver for
attracting new customers.

Communication and Engagement:

Engaging with customer comments demonstrates a commitment to customer
satisfaction. Responding to feedback, whether positive or negative, allows the business to
show transparency and a willingness to address concerns.
Adaptability to Market Trends:
Customer comments can reveal changing trends or preferences in the market.
Staying attuned to these shifts helps the business adapt its marketing strategies and
product offerings accordingly.
Continuous Improvement Cycle:
By consistently gathering and analyzing customer feedback, the business establishes a
continuous improvement cycle. This iterative process enables the business to evolve in
response to changing market dynamics and customer expectations.

In summary, customer feedback serves as a dynamic and real-time source of

information, enabling a small rice business to not only gauge the effectiveness of its
marketing campaigns but also to actively shape and improve various aspects of the
business based on direct customer input.

4. How do you maintain your business?

In the interview, the owner emphasized the pivotal role of passion and hard work in
sustaining a business. Passion fuels enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to the
products or services offered, creating a strong connection with customers. It acts as a
driving force, fostering innovation, adaptability, and resilience in the face of challenges.
Simultaneously, the owner highlighted the necessity of hard work, particularly in sales
efforts, as a key component for business maintenance and growth. Through dedicated and

10
persistent efforts, the business can not only meet customer needs effectively but also
stand out in a competitive market, ensuring long-term success and continuous
improvement. In essence, the combination of passion and hard work forms a dynamic
foundation for the thriving and enduring nature of the business

5. How much is your capital when you are starting your business and how much
is your salary/profit every year?
The owner's journey, starting with a capital of PHP 4,000 and witnessing the business
grow, is a testament to the power of hard work and customer trust. Their initial investment,
combined with dedicated efforts, has evidently paid off. The growth reflects not only the
effectiveness of their business strategies but also the trust cultivated with customers. This
trust, earned through consistent dedication and likely exemplary service, has played a
pivotal role in customer retention and loyalty. The story underscores the importance of
perseverance and building strong relationships with customers as key elements in the
business's success and expansion.
