Ayla was a deity born from the tears of the moon and the light of the sun. She was curious of
the world and often rebelled unlike her other siblings. One day, as she was travelling through
time and space to escape from her home, she landed on an unknown planet and met her
soulmate. She fell in love for the first time and since then, she’d often come down to the mortal
world to spend time with her lover. Those times, she was the happiest. But then one day, she
was caught sneaking out from Lunar Palace and the Gods and Goddesses were enraged by her
unacceptable affair with a mere mortal so she was then punished and locked away, forcibly
keeping her from seeing the love of her life.
When no one noticed, she momentarily escaped and went to visit the human realm one last
time and told her lover everything that happened and she was sorry for the loss of hope
maintaining their love. She blessed the Duke with the gift of eternal reincarnation that every
time he dies, he would be reborn again and remember this undying love with one another until
the day she comes back. They promised each other and to Ayla, this was her greatest blessing,
but to the Duke, it felt like a curse.
Ayla was caught back and had her precious memories erased. Although she rebelled a little, she
was always left alone in her room, being left to wonder what was missing. Being burdened with
guilt for the sudden changes in their siblings, the other deities decided to let Ayla roam the
mortal realms once every blue moon to meet up with her lost forgotten love. They didn’t want
their dear sister to suffer as she was still young and innocent, blinded by love.
The Duke on the other hand, suffered from a broken heart. Being forgotten by his beloved for
so many, many years, he was in a constant cycle of dying and being reborn again, longing for his
lover to come back one day. Until one starry night, he meets a beautiful fair maiden. The same
eyes, the same smile. He thought all the wait was worth it. He danced with her under the
moonlight but until the end she did not recognize him at all. Suddenly, the palace was
ambushed by dozens of assassins out of nowhere and the Duke did his best to protect Ayla until
they were cornered to a cliff. He thought, this was the best life he had ever lived so far and
maybe it would finally be the last so he kissed Ayla and jumped off the cliff. Ayla stood there
dumbfounded as the prince and a few palace guards came to her rescue. But then her
memories started to recover and tears dripped from her pretty cheeks as she recalled
everything that happened from before. The moon hung majestically on the night sky and the
swirling silver dusts surrounded her while she stared beyond the ocean’s horizon on the edge of
the cliff. Despite the concerns behind her, Ayla also fell off the cliff and dispersed into white
butterflies. It may look like a tragic love story but this is not where their story ends. Maybe in
another hundreds of years, Ayla will meet the Duke and fall in love all over again, restarting a
new chapter of the unfinished story. THE END.
