RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
Several experimental studies have shown that organisms tend to ingest a greater
amount of food when its components have different sensory properties, this
bahviour is known as sensory specific satiety phenomenon. Interpretations

UNA PROPUESTA PARA EL ANÁLISIS DEL FENÓMENO DE SACIEDAD SENSORIAL ESPECÍFICA
made about this phenomenon lack steady theoretical foundations and a sci-
entific rigor. There are two different functional stimulating effects produced
by food: sensorial and emotional. These variables are in a constant interac-
tion that affects ingestive behavior of organisms. Conditioned reinforcement
theory assumes the interaction between sensorial and emotional properties of
132 stimuli, and it proposes that former can show properties similar to latter. In
the present paper this theory is proposed to explain the phenomenon and
some alternatives to carry out more efficient studies.
