Task 1

Open the Evidence document and Enter your details... Name, Class, Student ID in the header.

1 Open the file payroll.xls in a spreadsheet package.

 Merge the cell from A2 to H2. Enter the text TWCT–Payroll.
 Format this text so that it is a bold, 18 point, centre aligned, sans-serif font.
 Format this cell so that it contains white text on a black background.
 Take a screenshot of formatting and place it in your evidence document.

2 • Create a named range called Rates using only cells A19 to D27 inclusive.
Show evidence that how have you created this named range by taking a screenshot.
3 • In cell D4 enter a function to look up the pay rate from the Rates table using the pay code
as the look up value and the named range Rates as the array.
4 In cell G4 enter a formula to calculate the pay for this employee using their pay rate and hours
worked.
5 In cell H4 enter a formula to display the word Yes if the hours worked are greater than the
contract hours, display the word No if the hours worked are the same as the contract hours or
display the word Incomplete if the hours worked are less than the contract hours.
6 Replicate the formulae entered in steps 10, 11 and 12 for all employees.
7 Apply appropriate formatting to all cells.
8 In cell G16 enter a function to calculate the total wage bill for this week.
9 Save the spreadsheet.
10Take a screenshot of your formulae in cells D4, G4, H4 and G16 separately and paste them in the
evidence document.

11 Open the file prop.csv
12 In cell D2 enter a formula to display the viewing cost if a local taxi is used.
• If the distance to the property is:
• less than 5 kilometres, the cost will be 2 dollars
• 5 kilometres or more and less than 15 kilometres, the cost will be 5 dollars
• 15 kilometres or more, the cost will be 10 dollars.
13 Take a screenshot of your formula and paste it in the evidence document.
14 Save and Print your Evidence document.
