The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess the ability and that this ability
can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment.
K: This method was introduced by a Japanese violinist named Shinichi Suzuki, who believed that
“Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed.”
To understand his point, let’s compare the idea of learning the mother tongue to the concept of
learning music.

So, Shinichi Suzuki’s idea was taken from the principles of language learning and he applied them to
music.
That’s why in Suzuki method, the parent involvement is very essential in this method.
They attend lessons with the child and serve as “home teachers” during the week. - One
parent often learns to play before the child, so that they understand what the child is expected
to do.
Parents work with the teacher to create an enjoyable learning environment.
Expanded meaning of ‘parent’ to include any caregiver, guardian, grandparent, etc. who is supporting
the child in the learning process.
