Many generations ago there lived a girl named Mahsuri in Langkawi.

She was the most beautiful girl

in all of Langkawi. Many men fall in love with Mahsuri and wanted her as their wife but Mahsuri's
heart belonged to Wan Darus, a young and handsome warrior. She married him and plan to live
happily in the village. But fate had another plan. As the saying goes, man plans, god decides..

As was required of a warrior, Wan Darus had his duty to the country and his people. He had to go to
war in a far far away land leaving Mahsuri behind to fend for herself. Mahsuri was so sad. She cried
day and night thinking of her husband. It was during this time that Mahsuri befriended a young man
named Deraman, who always helped her in time of need. But people started gossiping about
Mahsuri and Deraman. The village chief’s wife was jealous of Mahsuri’s beauty. She spread a rumour
that Mahsuri was unfaithful and was having an affair with Deraman in the absence of Wan Darus.
Eventually the rumours grew stronger and stronger that the villagers openly accused her of adultery.

Mahsuri pleaded to them and begged them to give her a chance to prove her innocence.

Dialogue-(pls pls pls believe me I did not have an affair with Deraman)

but no one believed her.

Mahsuri was caught by the villagers she was tied to a tree. They tried to kill her by stabbing her with
many weapons but it didn’t work.

After each and every attempt failed,

Mahsuri told them

" kill me with my family's dagger, only it could harm me").

When she was stabbed with her family's dagger, white blood flowed from the wound, signifying her
innocence. Some birds flew above her to cover her body.

With her dying breath, Dialogue-(Mahsuri cursed Langkawi will get seven generations of bad luck).

Not long after that, the kingdom was taken by Siam.

Now after eight generations the curse is lifted and Langkawi is prospering.

I hope from this story you all get to know about Mahsuri so the moral of the story is we should not
spread rumours without knowing the truth.

Thank you.
