Gold.

SHORT INTRODUCTION, HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY AND FLOLKLORE.

For a long time gold has always been a way of demonstrating power and
wealth. Because of its bright and striking color, its resistance and the
appearance of wealth it gives, although if we stop to think about it, why
does it give that feeling of wealth, who decided that it was so powerful?
In my humble opinion I think this is because when gold was discovered
the human species was simple and easy to amaze, so that suddenly
discovered such a shiny and hard moldable metal, called the attention of
those primitive humans, making since then we have much respect for gold
and the people who carry it.
Since then we have also assumed that shiny things have a lot of value or
have the value we want to give it, it is true that strange and scarce things
attract more attention and have a higher value because they are scarce. But
that does not avoid the fact that things like gold or money have a value
because we give it to them.
Because what would happen if one day we would stop giving so much
importance to gold and we would give it to trees, especially to willow trees,
and we would pay with willow leaves instead of banknotes, but when I ask
myself this question the solution is answered with the first reasoning and is
that if we paid with willow leaves everyone would be a millionaire, so no
one would work, which makes it clear that the economy and our own
human survival depends on money and that it is not something easy to get.
Rather it should be something you have to work for because if people
started to not need to work to earn money the world would stop and we
would go back to the time when we bartered, to the world where everyone
grew their own food. So when we read this reflection we realize that we
should be thankful that when mankind discovered gold they were so naïve
that they were surprised by that little nugget of shiny yellow metal.
Leaving aside the philosophy and reflection on the importance of money
and therefore gold, let's talk about it.

Gold has been considered throughout history as a gift from the gods or god.
Something very normal because at that time when we had no criteria and
we were unable to think, society was very believing, both Greeks,
Egyptians, Romans, Arabs, Muslims, Catholics and others. Therefore it is
understandable that they took those pieces of shiny and attractive metal as
something divine.
For example, in Peru they used to use gold to worship the gods, something
that happened before the arrival of the Spaniards to Latin America, since
when the colonizers arrived to new lands they were astonished by the
amount of gold in those civilizations of Indians who still lived with animal
skins as clothes and paintings on their faces.
In other religions it was believed that eating on golden plates gave good
health.
In Greek mythology, Midas is the god represented by gold, although in
truth he was not a god but a king who went down in history because of his
myth.
In Norse mythology he is the father of all who is represented by this
mineral.
In Egyptian mythology the sarcophagi were covered with a lot of gold as
well as the palaces and temples.
As I said at the beginning, gold has represented power, but it has also led
many men to madness, because of the well-known gold fever or the legend
of El Dorado, and this, as I have also mentioned before, is due to the greed
and the craving for power that we human beings possess, so great that we
are capable of sacrificing everything for power and money.
Wealth and power.
Gold chemistry:
Descripció
Gold is considered the most malleable and ductile metal in existence. It is
also a good conductor of heat and electricity. It has a yellow color in its
raw state and shines brightly.
It is a metal that is not affected by chemical alternation, such as heat,
humidity, air and other chemical agents, however it dissolves in mixtures
containing bromides, iodide and/or chlorides, or in oxidizing mixtures such
as cyanide or aqua regia.
It is a very dense metal with a very high melting point and high electronic
affinity.
Its oxidation state is usually +1 or +3, but it can also be found with an
oxidation state of +2 or higher, although this is not as common.
Unlike its immediate neighbor in the group six oxidation states, the
chemistry of gold is very broad.
Medicine:
Chrysotherapy is how the use of gold in medicine is known, currently it has
been given therapeutic uses such as for arthritis, but the problem with gold
is that our body does not absorb it well, but if it can deprender toxic
residues that have caused 50% of patients who have ingested drugs with
gold, have suffered liver and kidney damage.
Gold is created from supernovae, when they collide, small nuggets fall and
when they reach the earth's atmosphere they are pressed into gold nuggets.

Meaning of gold in popular culture:

Black gold: refers to oil, as a non-renewable source of energy.
White gold: is the term used for cotton.
Liquid gold: this is the name given to extra virgin olive oil because of its
color.
Red gold: this is how red coral is called.
Curious facts:
The value of gold is very high, not because there is a shortage but because
it is so difficult to obtain it, today it has been proven that most of the gold
on earth is in the earth's core.
In the periodic table, the name of gold is Au which is the abbreviation of
Aurum which comes from Latin meaning "bright dawn". Aurophibia is the
fear of gold.
The city of Dubai is known for its extremities and luxuries, with drawers
selling gold.
Gold is found on every continent, however almost half of the gold that has
been mined comes from: South Africa.
