19GD01E- BUSINESS ANALYTICS
PART – A (7*2=14 Marks)

1. List of process involved in the Analytics. (CO1-K2)

2. Differentiate prescriptive and descriptive analytics. (CO1-K2)
3. Write various types of data measurement scales applied for representing data. (CO1-K2)
4. Summarize the concepts of rules of addition. (CO1-K2)
5. State binomial probability distribution. (CO2-K2)
6. What is the purpose of using decision tree in data mining? (CO2-K2)
7. How to handle the missing and incomplete data for analysis? (CO1-K2)

PART – B (3*12=36 Marks)

8. a) In the complete business analytic process, how the source data set can be transformed into
measureable business value by applying three important components such as descriptive, predictive
and prescriptive analytics. Justify your answer with appropriate block diagram. (CO1-K2)
(Or)
b) Consider the case that finding product is in working condition or not. How can you apply rule of
addition concepts to solve this probabilistic situation.
If there are four mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive events of P(A) = 0.20, P(B) = 0.40,
P(C) = 0.15, and P(D) = 0.25, what are the following probabilities: P(A) + P(D), P(B ∪ C), P(A or
B or C), and P(A +~A)? (CO1-K2)

9. a) Discuss on various common parametric statistical tests techniques are used and software access
information’s. How to calculate T-test statistic values such as mean, variance, correlation values
and degree of freedom for the sales data. (CO1-K2)
(Or)
b) Suppose we are planning on purchasing a printer to handle computer jobs that need to be printed.
The size of the jobs and the flow to the printer is Poisson distributed with a mean arrival rate of two
jobs per minute (μ = 2). The selection of the printer will be based in part on its probable ability to
handle the flow of jobs from the computer without requiring costly computer storage. Model A can
buffer up to five jobs at a time. What is the probability that Model A will have to store exactly three
jobs in its buffer storage per minute? (CO1-K2)

10. a) Consider a sales data in the supermarket per month, discuss the exploratory descriptive statistical
tools those are helpful in understanding the informational value of data sets. How a negatively
skewed distribution orders the measures such as mean, median and mode. Explain it with neat
sketch. (CO2-K2)
(Or)
b) Consider any real time application data and calculate Standard normal distribution function and the
number of standard error of the means (Z value). How the probability distributions and confidence
intervals are suitable to allow analysts to predict or forecast with some assessed degree of statistical
accuracy. Explain with appropriate diagram. (CO2-K2)
