palletized, solid-piled, bin box, back-to-back shelf storage, shelf storage, or rack
storage shall be 175 psi (12 bar)
7.1.2 System components shall be rated for the maximum system working pressure to
which they are exposed but shall not be rated at less than 175 psi (12 bar) for

underground
(NFPA 14)
7.8.1. Hydraulically designed standpipe systems shall be designed to provide the waterflow
rate required by NFPA14-7.10 at a minimum residual pressure of 100 psi (6.9 bar) at
the hydraulically most remote 21∕2 in. (65 mm) hose connection and 65 psi (4.5 bar)
at the outlet of the hydraulically most remote 11∕2 in. (40 mm) hose connection
3. Did the designer include the demand for all system connected to the pumps (I.e. sprinklers,
standpipe, hydrants)?
(NFPA 13)
[Link]. The water demand requirements shall be determined by either the pipe schedule
method in accordance with NFPA13-19.3.2 or the hydraulic calculation method in
accordance with NFPA13-19.3.3.
[Link] The minimum water demand requirements for a sprinkler system shall be determined
by adding the hose stream allowance to the water demand for sprinklers
(NFPA 14)
8.2.1. Standpipe system piping shall be sized by hydraulic calculations
(NFPA 24)
5.2.1. Hydraulic calculations shall show that the main is able to supply the total demand at
the appropriate pressure
4. Dose the calculation includes node diagram showing rise, sprinkler node numbers, area
name ...etc.?
[Link].1. Hydraulic calculations shall be prepared on form sheets that include a summary
sheet, a graph sheet, a water supply analysis, a node analysis, and detailed worksheets
5. Did the designer use the correct density, area of design, hose allowance and duration?
[Link].3 The lower duration values in Table
[Link].2 shall be permitted where the
sprinkler system waterflow alarm device(s)
and supervisory device(s) are electrically
supervised and such supervision is
monitored at an approved, constantly
attended location as per NFPA 13-
[Link].3.
6. Did the designer use the correct spacing between the sprinkler?
[Link].1 Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing of Standard Pendent and Upright Spray
Sprinklers for High-Piled Storage.
[Link].1. Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing (Standard Sidewall Spray Sprinkler).
[Link].2 Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing (Extended Coverage Upright and Pendent
Spray Sprinklers).
[Link].1. Protection Area and Maximum Spacing for Extended Coverage Sidewall Spray
Sprinklers
[Link].1. Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing for CMSA Sprinklers.
7. Did the designer use the correct residuals pressure for sprinkler, landing valve (6.9 bar -
NFPA 14), hose reels (4.5 bar - NFPA 14)?
(NFPA 13)
[Link].1. Minimum operating pressure of any sprinkler shall be 7 psi (0.5 bar)
For Storage design minimum operating pressure shall be in accordance with NFPA13
Chapter 20 through Chapter 25.
(NFPA 14)
(40 mm) hose connection.
8. Did the designer consider fire pumps hazard as extra hazard group 2?
(NFPA 20)
7.8.1. Fire pump buildings or rooms enclosing diesel engine pump drivers and day tanks
shall be protected with an automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with
NFPA 13 as an Extra Hazard Group 2 occupancy.
9. Does the calculation for standpipe is performed in line with NFPA 14 (I.e. flowing 500 gpm
from the highest two landing valves on the first standpipe and 250 gpm for each additional
standpipe with maximum 1000 gpm for sprinklers system and 1250 gpm for non-
sprinkled)?
(NFPA 14)
[Link].1. Hydraulic calculations and pipe sizes for each standpipe shall be based on providing
250 gpm (946 L/min) at the two hydraulically most remote hose connections on the
standpipe and at the connection point of each of the other standpipes at the
minimum residual pressure required by NFPA 14-7.8.
[Link].2 Where a horizontal standpipe on a Class I and Class III system supplies three or
more hose connections on any floor, hydraulic calculations and pipe sizes for each
standpipe shall be based on providing 250 gpm (946 L/min) at the three
hydraulically most remote hose connections on the standpipe and at the connection
point of each of the other standpipes at the minimum residual pressure required by
NFPA 14-7.8.
[Link].3 The minimum flow rate for additional standpipes shall be 250 gpm (946 L/min) per
