What is a Philharmonic Orchestra? It is a symphony orchestra that is fond of music and

plays classical music. The word Philharmonic means love of harmony. These types of orchestras

have been around for quite a long time ever since the year 1842. Every orchestra has its

conductor that brings its own unique vision to the group by directing and ensuring there is a

balance to create musical interpretation. Brendan Townsend had been director of the Laredo

Philharmonic from 2003 until his passing in 2023. Due to COVID-19 the Philharmonic was on

pause and would not be able to meet up for practices. Until Sunday, April 23, 2020. The Laredo

Philharmonic had its first concert back named Spring concert in memory of Brendan Townsend.

The concert was to honor their former friend and conductor. The physical document chosen was

the concert program. This concert program's genre is meant to be an analysis and profile. It has

an order of information on the performers, music, date, time, and information you can read on

Mr. Townsend. The concert was at Laredo College Fine Arts Theater, where the program was

being given out to all who attended. The concert program is used by the community by allowing

the audience to feel connected on a deeper level to the performances and feel connected

throughout. It gives more value and explanation when reading through it.

The creator of this concert program chose this type of genre of analysis and profile to

honor the memory of Mr. Townsend and share his memory through a beautiful performance.

community. Their point was reached by sharing his memory and putting information so the
