Document Development Exposition: Instructions

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
When making this assignment I wanted to make it on something that would connect to something I
want to do in the future. I decided to do it on how to upload a YouTube video. I decided I would add
images that show exactly where to press. I also wanted to add a disclaimer at the top like an example
we used in class.

First Draft (for peer editing)


I started off by formatting the document. I wanted to have a bold title with an easy-to-read
disclaimer. I then added the headings. I was unsure how to start the document, so I went through
the YouTube web page and wrote down everything I did to create a video. This then became my
headings. I went back through slower and took some snapshots that would act as easy to see
symbols to show readers how to go through the process.

Second Draft (for your packet)


During peer editing I got a few small changes that should be made within the document. readers
pointed out that the disclaimer was not easily readable, so I made the font larger to bring more
attention to it. I also added punctuation to all the steps to keep fluency through the document.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)


For the title I added the title case instead of just having larger text. I also added an overview at the
top of the document to describe what the document was about to show. I realized that using the
term “pressing” would be difficult for readers because you do not actually press anything, so I
changed it to “click” to make it more understandable for users. I also changed the image to have
clearer rectangles around the objects users were meant to click. I then added a box around the
bottom image on the first page because it was difficult for readers to differentiate the image from
the document. I also realized using the term “create” the thumbnail is confusing because the

document doesn't show how to create it. I instead changed it to select. The audience rating was also
confusing because it doesn't elaborate what the rating does. I added a description to help users. I
also changed up the optional tab a bit more to make it clearer for readers.
