Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
I had to figure out what issues I wanted to write my paper about. When reading the reaktion book
we were assigned in class, I decided some of the largest issues with carnivorous plants is the fact that
they are poached, and their habitat is dying.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I always like formatting my papers first, so I started by making my headings. Since the paper required
either an executive summary or abstract I decided an executive summary would make more sense. I
then formatted the document with two body headings which both contained three subheadings that
would elaborate more on the issues pertaining to carnivorous plants. The second set of subheadings
would be what we could do to fix the respective first heading issues. I found a few web pages that
would be the foundations of my points that would help me argue the issues within my document. I
found a very formal document that gave a lot of facts which I referenced multiple times within my
document. I also wanted to add photos for each issue heading which allowed me to show the reader
what exactly i was talking about within my paper.

Second Draft (for your packet)

I first made the title image smaller as someone made a critique about it during peer review. I also
added a table of figures for all the images in my paper. I made the font bigger to make it easier to
read. After getting through with peer editing I realized what an executive summary was. I switched
over to an abstract because I had accidentally written an abstract already. My formatting was also
wrong. I was meant to have one solution heading, so I condensed all three solutions into one main
solution. After the issues I added a solution paragraph that explained the solutions that can help fix
the issues described in the paper. After this I expanded upon how the solution solves the problem.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

Document Development Exposition: White Paper

As cover images do not count as figures I took the figure out of the title image and made it larger to
fit the boundaries I put within the document using horizontal lines. I also changed the third body
section's title as it was not very descript in what the paper was trying to describe. I noticed I do not
point to my figures within my document, so I went back and put my figures into my text to help the
reader know when to look at the images. The details in my solution also weren’t very descript so I
added more information to help the reader understand how the solutions will be established.
