PDP Part 1: Initial PDP

SMART Goal #1:

I will walk 13,000 steps per day.

I currently get between 9-10,000 steps per day just going between classes and daily functions.
Aiming for 13,000 will require me to go on mental health walks or exercise at the gym, while not
putting any pressure on the activity I do as long as it is exercise. I will not be able to rot in bed all
day in a funk because if I am not up enough of the day it is very hard to reach my goal. I will set
up a step goal in my phone and apple watch to help track throughout the day. In the Apple Watch
app, it automatically tracks your steps goal completion every day so I will refer to that to keep
myself on track. This goal helps me to be great by making sure my physical health is going well
and that I am taking time to destress during the day and not do school work. I think this is a
high-quality goal and action plan.

This relates to my personal mission statements as “I will exercise and be around people for my
mental health.” and “I WILL NOT BED ROT. ” were my tenth and seventh statements.

SMART Goal #2:

I will make time to pursue artistic hobbies (knitting, painting, etc) for 2 hours every week.

Even when I have free time I find it hard to start the hobbies that I love and enjoy. Setting aside
time to do them without distractions leads me to use it as a form of meditation. I also find
satisfaction and accomplishment in my hobbies. By neatly storing and organizing my supplies, it
will make it easier to start and stop without having to clean and organize. I will set aside one
hour every Sunday and one hour every Wednesday to work on my hobbies and I will finish three
of the projects that I have started. This goal will help my mental health allowing me to be great. I
think this is a high-quality goal and action plan.

This relates to my personal mission statements as “I will make time for hobbies I enjoy but
procrastinate doing.” was my ninth statement.

SMART Goal #3:

I will call/facetime my parents and say hello twice per week for at least 15 minutes.

I find myself missing my parents a lot this semester. Setting aside time to speak with them and
give life updates without distraction encourages me to be immersed in the conversation and
practice mindfulness. If I set aside time instead of speaking to them for just a moment between
classes, I can actually pay attention to what we are talking about and speak to them about
important things. Every Sunday I make frozen croissants for breakfast and in total (defrost and
bake) it takes 45 minutes. I will take those 45 minutes to talk to my parents. I also have 4 hours
after ice skating on Thursdays so I will also call them during that time slot. This goal helps me to
be great my keeping a healthy relationship with my parents instead of not talking to them for a
while and then just dumping on them. They offer me very good advice and their solutions always
seem to work which calms some of my anxieties. I think this is a high-quality goal and action
plan.

This relates to my personal mission statements as “I will put people and relationships first that do
the same for me.” was my first statement.
