Subject: “The Ultimate Guide to Your Combination Skin-Care Routine” Post Usability Test
Action Required: View and analyze updated document instructions
Distribution: Content Director, Marketing Team
Good Evening all, I hope everyone is doing well. I am writing to let you all know of the results
of the usability test that we conducted on “The Ultimate Guide to Your Combination Skin-Care
Routine” instructions and to discuss these results with you as well as request approval for some
minor changes that were made in response to the test results. We tested the instructions on
Wednesday the 11th of October on four users. The usability test gave us a new perspective and
helped us identify points of potential improvement to enhance the user experience. The four
users were asked to read through the instructions and build their own skin care routine based on
their personal qualities, then they were asked to explain their understanding of the different skin
care steps and their importance in a skin care routine based on the information provided in the
document.
Overall, we received positive feedback, and the users were overall satisfied with the document.
Users found the instructions easy to navigate and expressed that the document was appealing to
the eyes. Users agreed that the graphics shown with each step helped them visualize the step and
how to apply it, although some were more useful than others. As the users expressed their
thoughts and opinions while going through the instructions, here are a few points that were
emphasized:
Finding 2: Visual aids for steps 2 and 3 were not descriptive enough
o User expressed that while the visual aids were very helpful, the graphics
for steps 2 and 3 needed to be more descriptive.
One user expressed that while the document is colorful and has good layout, the variety
of colors and font sizes made the document “busy looking.”
All users noted that the graphic images accompanying the steps were extremely helpful
while one user expressed that the ones for steps 2 and 3 (especially 2) were not visually
descriptive enough.
All users agreed that step 2 needed more clarification.
One user expressed the need for an encouraging message directed at people who suffer
with low self-esteem regarding their skin.
One user suggested the need for product recommendations for varying budgets.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we used the results and feedback of the usability test to implement changes into
the instructional document in hopes of improving the overall user experience. The changes made
were directly inspired by the feedback of the four users. These changes included the addition of
an encouraging message in the introduction, the summarization and clarification of step 2, the
replacement of product recommendations with CeraVe products, and the addition of more
descriptive images to steps 2 and 3.
Recommendations
Change 1: Use two fonts and four colors for the whole document at most.Add an
encouraging message about self-care in the introduction to boost user confidence.
o To make the document easy to read and visually pleasing. Add more
relevant information and resources to step 2 about active ingredients.
Replace any non CeraVe product recommendations with CeraVe products
in steps 2,3, and 4.
Change 2: ReplaceChange photo visual aid in step 2 and 3 with to a simpler infographics.
.To make the document more interpretable for the reader.

Routine” instructions, I would love to inform you that the usability test results were very
promising. Overall, the four test subjects expressed the ease of navigating through the
