The agency sends you an adorable 5 foot 2 brunette that barely looks
capable of protecting herself, let alone anyone else. Turns out "Ryan" is
Emerson Ryan, former FBI. She drop-kicks your butt to the ground to
prove her point. She’s more than capable of protecting Bristol, your
little girl… But you shouldn’t be turned on by her fierceness. Everyone
thinks she’s your daughter’s nanny, including Bristol. Emerson looks the
part and goes along with it at your insistence until she's forced to be
your daughter's babysitter. With a professional hockey career on the
line, you need Emerson by your side. But questions will arise the
moment you hire a "second" nanny for Bristol, and you don't want to
worry your daughter about the threat to her safety. The next best thing?
Hire Emerson as your fake girlfriend. She can protect Bristol, and you
get a little extra publicity when the news learns about your new spicy
romance. But how long can you pretend everything is fake when the
sparks are real? This steamy hockey romance book features a grumpy
single dad, a sizzling romance with plenty of drama. No cheating.

The illustrated cover sucked me, as did the premise, but this just didn't
hold my attention. Plus there's waaaayyy too many tropes--single dad,
hockey, billionaire, mafia, bodyguard, fake dating, forced proximity...

Too many troupes with very little substance. I’m not a fan at breaking
down someone’s work but man, I wish the authors
friends/editor/publisher or whomever read this book before it was
published could have been honest. This book is a hot mess. It had
potential to be good but fell completely flat and shouldn’t have been
published. It needs to be rewritten at best.

Man. This book was a fucking train wreck. It had too much going on. I
mean was it a hockey romance? Mafia? Billionaire? It constantly
repeated itself. I hate when they have a kid and the kid is “so mature.”
My six year old is pretty mature for her age and she wouldn’t say half
the shit this one did. I finished it because I bought it but it was hard.

Being in a book slump, I am glad to have read this book because it was
quick paced, spicy, fun and easy to read. It got me back into reading

It does have a lot of tropes like a billionaire hockey player, a single dad,

I thought this was a cute romance. Kyler hires Ryan as a bodyguard for
his daughter as he is getting death threats. Imagine his surprise when
Ryan turns out to be a petite woman. I found these two to have great
chemistry and thought Bristol was adorable. I found this book
entertaining but a bit convoluted.

I really liked the dynamic between Emerson and Kyler, but it was a bit of
a rushed storyline. I felt it was moving one direction but then changes,
as part of the "thriller" aspect of the book. I enjoy a bit of the
thriller/romance genre and add in some hockey it was fun! This book
could have definitely been longer and really developed more of the
