INTRODUCTION
LAST CHRISTMAS

Last Christmas is a seasonal one-shot for Call of

Cthulhu 7e which takes place in 1984 and is
suitable for a group of 3-5 investigators, ideally
with a broad mix of skills.
Inspired by the lyrics of the Wham! song of the
same name, it features a ghostly antagonist who
is – quite literally – trying to give their heart to
“someone special.”
Following the death of a mutual acquaintance,
investigators discover evidence of the
supernatural, and follow a trail of clues that
lead to a cocktail bar, the hideout of a local drug
dealer, and to a snow-bound lodge in the
foothills of the mountains.
There, perhaps armed with arcane knowledge
that will help them dispel the resurrected spirit
of Shirley Hollyman, investigators find
themselves locked in a life-or-death struggle
that threatens not only them, but the lives of
everyone in the city.
Featuring detailed maps and handouts and
accompanied by a playlist of suggested 1980s
and Christmas music to accompany the action,
Last Christmas aims to be a creepy, fun
diversion for Keepers and their players to help
them get into the holiday spirit.
Knowledge or experience of the 1980s is not
essential to enjoy the scenario. Although the
author lived through those neon-drenched years
in their entirety, the tone of Last Christmas has
more in common with movies of the era, rather
than claiming to be historically accurate.
Some basic orientation and details of the era
that affect gameplay are however presented as
part of the introductory section.

Though the setting and premise of the scenario

is relatively light-hearted, it contains themes of
mind control, oppression, hard drug use,
suicide
. and physical acts of violence.
Keepers should discuss their players’ level of
comfort
5 with such themes before embarking on
running the scenario.

Hollyman. He is convinced the investigators
are demons, and tries to fight them back,
screaming that ‘she’ will bring about an
eternal winter if she manages to find what she
is looking for at ‘the lodge’, before descening
into incoherent rambling.
One of Ridgerton’s walls is covered with
evidence, ancient writings and eyewitness
accounts of the Ice Maiden, an entity that he
believes will manifest this Christmas to exact
revenge on wronged women. Knowing what
transpired last Christmas, he has been trying
to warn George and Helen without success.
His crazy wall does however contain

stands in front of the large double window,

that the lid is engraved with the words ‘I love

Stranger still, the frost does not melt, even if

Keeper’s note. The frost is from Shirley

through the apartment window and flew from
the fire escape.

Bathroom
The bathroom has a peach-coloured three-
piece suite with a shower above the bath. A
mirrored cabinet is above the sink.
The cabinet contains a selection of toiletries,
including a substantial amount of male
grooming and hair care products. A pill bottle
of antidepressants is also inside, half empty
and with a label indicating that it is a repeat
prescription which commenced in January
this year.
If an investigator succeeds on a Hard Spot

almost empty, but contains a small amount of

Fire Of The Gods
Cost: 6 magic points, 1 POW
Casting time: instantaneous
An ancient incantation from the wilderness of
Lapland in northern Finland, reciting the
words grants the caster the ability to summon
a ball of fire ‘from the heavens’ and cast it a
distance of up to three meters from their body.
The fire does not harm the caster, and is cool
to their touch. Any being that it hits however
finds the fire to be intensely hot, causing the
skin to blister and melt from the bone.
Being struck by the fire inflicts 2D4 points of
damage. Anything inflammable – such as
clothing – also catches fire and burns, causing
an additional 1 point of damage per turn until
extinguished.
Extinguishing the magical fire takes one
turn of uninterrupted action.
