Description
Ureprime 2.8 Epoxy Urethane Primer is a two component, high solids,
fast drying primer that meets VOC regulations requiring less than 2.8
lbs./gallon. It offers excellent smoothness that provides a premium
topcoat appearance.
Handle with care. Before and during use, observe safety labels on
packaging and paint containers and follow all local and national safety
regulations. Always consult Hempel’s Safety Data Sheet for this
product along with the Product Data Sheet.

Recommended use
For use on automobiles, trucks, trailers, bulk tanks, and commercial Product data
architectural applications which require a smooth topcoat appearance.

- Remove oil, grease and other contaminants by suitable detergent
cleaning. Pot life 4½ hours
- Remove salts, detergents and other contaminants by high pressure
fresh water cleaning.
Application method

New build: Tool Application parameters

- Abrasive blasting to min. Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1) / SP 10 (SSPC).
- Remove dust, blast media and loose materials. 1900 psi [Nozzle pressure: 131 bar]
Airless spray
Nozzle orifice: 0.011-0.013"

Maintenance and Repair Air spray Not Applicable.

- Remove oil, grease and other contaminants by suitable detergent
cleaning.
- Remove salts, detergents and other contaminants by high pressure
fresh water cleaning.
- Abrasive blasting to min. Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1) / SP 10 (SSPC).
- Water jetting to Wa 2½ (ISO 8501-4) or WJ-2 (SSPC-SP 12/NACE
No.5).
- Flash rust degree of maximum FR L (ISO 8501-4) or SSPC-SP
12/NACE No.5.
- Remove dust, blast media and loose materials.
Roughness

Brush/Roller Not Applicable.
If brush or roller application is used, more coats will be necessary to achieve
the specified dry film thickness. Add 08EJB (JB 21102 Fast Spray Reducer) as
required.
When temperature is over 21°C/70°F, use 08320 (JB 21092 Medium Reducer).
Add 08BJB (JB 21093 Slow Reducer) to reduce dry spray and orange peel.
085JB (JB 21078 Special Urethane Retarder) can be added to help add a wet
edge for spraying large parts.
08DJB (JB 21099 Brush/Roll Additive) can be used to help applications
requiring brushing and rolling. Spray data are indicative and subject to
adjustment. Pressure is for a material temperature of 68°F [20°C].

Application conditions
- To avoid condensation, apply on a clean and dry surface with a

Overcoating details
- If the maximum overcoating interval is exceeded, roughening of the
surface is necessary to ensure intercoat adhesion.
- The surface must be dry and clean prior to application.

Other remarks
- Overcoating interval: 1 hour minimum (68°F/20°C). Minimum can
be shortened to 45 minutes with 0.5 oz. of 99LJB accelerator per
mixed gallon.
- Epoxy coats have an inherent tendency of chalking in outdoor
exposure. This does not affect the performance of the coating.
- Hempel’s Specification supersedes any recommendations given in
the Product Data Sheets.
