“SHOULD CHILDREN ALWAYS RESPECT AND OBEY

THEIR PARENTS?”

Should Children Always Respect and Obey their Parents?

Respect is one value that is observed to be deteriorating among the
youths of today. Respect relates to how you treat another person and how you feel
toward the person. Another definition of respect is due regard for the feelings,
wishes, rights or traditions of others.

On the other hand, obedience involves altering your behaviour

because a figure of authority has told you to. Our parents are figures of authority so
children must always respect and obey their parents.

All mothers and most fathers have legal right and responsibilities as a
parent known as “parental responsibility. The most important roles of parents are to
provide a home for their children, protect and maintain their children. It is also the
responsibility of parents to discipline their children, choose and provide for the child’s
education, naming the child and agreeing to any change of name and others.

Every parent wishes to see their children grow up to be responsible

individuals. The best way to achieve this is by instilling a sense of responsibility in
their children at a young age and teach them to be responsible at home. Tasks as
simple as cleaning up after themselves, folding their clothes, washing their
underwear or helping with the house chores, like washing dishes, cleaning the floor,
water the plants can help and teach the children, valuable lessons and make them
responsible. Sometimes excessive love and care may spoil a child and may lead
them to think that they can do whatever they like, triggering behavioural issues and
attitude problems in them. While some parents may see right through it, others may
overlook it.

A lot of times, and a lot of people has been asking if children should
always be respectful and obedient to their parents.

Observing the youths nowadays, some don’t know how to respect their
parents or show disrespect. As children reach their "tween" and teen years they are
starting to develop their own, unique identity. During this period parents sometimes
conflict between the child and the parents occur. They become disrespectful or
insensitive to adults. They answer back, give wrong or uncomfortable remarks which
usually anger their parents. For example, a neighbor of mine has a child who is
addicted using gadgets and playing the popular ML game in his cellphone. He will
not do his assignment and usually skip classes. His parents will try to reprimand him
or tell him that it is not good to be always playing video games. His parents
sometimes punish him on his wrong doings.

Though it might be true that parents can be wrong sometimes, they still
did many things for you and therefore you should always be respectful towards them.
There are three reasons why we should respect and obey our parents. One,
because they gave us life, second, they can make us happy and the third is, life
would be tough without our parents.

Regardless of how they treat us, we should respect and obey them
because we wouldn’t be here if it were not for them. For example, my two handsome
brothers and two beautiful sisters, whom I love so much, and me, of course, would
not be here if not for my parents. I have respect for my parents because we, their
children would not exist and would not experience life. Therefore we, children should
always respect and obey our parents.

Parents make us happy. Whatever is their mood, bad or good, they are
always there to give their support to their children. In my case, we are far from my
father who is working in Cebu in order to support our family needs. My mother is with
us here in Cantilan, taking care of us their children. My parents are very supportive in
whatever our needs are just to make us happy and comfortable. Whenever we are
sick, or not feeling well, my father will comfort us through his soothing, comforting
words by calling us. My mother also care for us, takes care of us. They will do
everything, from financial needs and other problems to solve. Without parents life
can be tough that is why we should always respect and obey our parents.

There are children who lost their parents at an early age. Life would be
tough for them because they lack parental support. They will experience conditions
such as depression and other health conditions. Nobody can cook for them, take
care for them, or make them happy by taking them to recreational places. This
shows that because life would be tough without parents, children should respect and
obey their parents.
There are still many reasons why we children respect and obey our
parents. Overall, we, children should always respect and obey our parents,
regardless if we are scolded or complimented.
