Avocado Case
Liam Pankratz
Question 1: Prepare a Pivot Table

For question one I was asked to prepare a pivot table for number of avocados exported by different
regions of the United States. Pivot tables made the process of finding the specific data I was asked to
find easy. After making a pivot table I was able to just filter within my table the number of avocados sold
in total by year, quarter and even month. Manually calculating this would take much longer and would
also leave a large margin of human error.

Question 2: Finding Average by Region

For this next question I needed to make another pivot table with the goal to find the average price for
each region. I was specifically asked for the top three regions with the highest average price. New
York, San Francisco and Hartford Springfield were the 3 regions with the highest average price. New
York with 583.92, San Francisco with 609.82 and Hartford Springfield with the highest at 614.7.

Question 3: Assessing Xlarge Organic

For this exercise I used a pivot table and added organic and extra-large bags in the row’s column. Then
in the variables I added the average price. This allows me to see the average price for organic extra-
large bags.

Question 4: Assessing Xlarge Conventional

For this exercise I used data gathered from the pivot chart in question 3 and added in the average price
of conventional avocados. With that data I was then able to use Boolean logic and made a formula to
say if convention was cheaper (true) or if organic was cheaper (false). Then made another pivot chart
to show the totals of what I found.
