iCanStudy Time Management Checklist What is this worksheet? Use this worksheet to understand the fundamentals to managing your time and making sure you are getting things done! Having a digital calendar is one of the best ways to ensure you know where your time is going. STEP 1: USE A DIGITAL CALENDAR © Use a digital calendar like Apple Calendar or Google Calendar to visualise and plan out your days and weeks. This helps you understand: 1. When you need to get certain things done, and 2. How long you will need to spend on a certain task or event. You can do this very easily by following the two steps below: + Schedule in fixed events such as school, classes, appointments, and any social events you may be going to. + Schedule in events that are flexible such as studying, revising for an exam, working on certain skills etc. and avoid over-scheduling (refer to Step 3) This is an example of what a schedule may look like: ‘500 0m {600 am Sloop 700m Breaks 18.00 am Bue ride to eehoo! re-uy for math and engish 2.00 am Schoo! 1000am 1200 pm 1100 pm 200pn 300 pm {£00 pm Bus ride heme (loan vp notes fr al cassos Fash cares 500 pm Tennis pracico 00pm Praciow seay for engl 7.00 pm ‘Chemisty lab report ‘8:00pm ‘wird down 9.00pm Sieep (Oj icanstudy @& icanstudy.com iCanStudy Community STEP 2: TRACK YOUR TIME O Certain tasks may take longer or even shorter than we expect. Tracking time is very important so you can learn to know how long you need to spend on certain tasks and be more realistic with your schedule. You can do this by: + Tracking time using apps such as Toggl, Rize or your Screen-Time report. You can also just use a timer or stopwatch. + Compare the amount of time you thought you needed and the amount of time you actually needed and learn to adjust your perception for how long things will take. Review your time-tracking regularly by seeing which apps / tasks are taking up the most time. What gets meesured is what gets improved, since you can then reflect on how you can optimise and speed up certain tasks or processes. STEP 3: AVOID OVERSCHEDULING. CD Always be sure to avoid overscheduling and being too ambitious with your schedule! Schedules are always inevitable to fluctuate, so expect the unexpected and be ready to accomodate. + Keep a 15-30 minute buffer for before and after your events. This way, if anything extends for longer than it should have, you have already anticipated it. + If you happen to finish something earlier, you can directly move onto the next event or task at hand.
