Topic: Functions
Task/Product: Currency Conversion
Target Skills/Values:
1. Evaluating functions
2. Converting one currency to another
Mode of Participation: Dyad
Mechanics:
One of the applications of functions in real life is converting money to other currencies. Just like what
some OFWs are doing here in Saudi Arabia wherein they tend to convert Saudi riyals to Philippine
Peso to check whether it is good to buy a certain product or not with that price. So as a student, it is
important to know how to budget properly and not to exceed your budget, especially when you are
buying something.
To apply the concept of functions, follow the instructions below:
2. As a student of FGPIS, you need to pay your monthly tuition fee in order for you to continue studying
in this institution. Get your previous TUITION FEE RECEIPT given by the finance office, and take a
picture of it. Then determine how much you are paying monthly in Philippine Peso.
We think that the payments of our parents when it comes to what we are learning at school are of
worth. This is because of the quality education that the school provides compared to the other
Philippine schools in this country giving advanced lessons that would not be taught even at schools in
western countries such as Canada. Another factor of this is how Saudi Arabia is generally pricey
compared to other countries in the world.

6. In three to five sentences, explain how currency fluctuations affect a country’s economy.
Currency fluctuates to the supply and demand of money and dwindling resources in the country.
This makes countries rely on exports and imports increasing the demand for these products making
exports more expensive and imports less expensive making foreign companies decrease demand for
products in our own country. Not only does it make exports more expensive abroad but it affects the
international trade of the country. Currency will continue to fluctuate as the resources we have today
are dwindling and decreasing the supply will result in increasing demand.
