CASE: Blanchard Importing and Distributing Co., Inc.

Use the following suggested questions when preparing your team’s case report.

[1] Correct the EOQ and ROP quantities for each of the five items mentioned in the case. How
do the corrected figures compare with the quantities calculated in 1969 and with production
volumes scheduled for the June 1972 bottling run?

[2] What are the weaknesses of an EOQ system in Blanchard situation?

[3] What are the problems of the current system used by Bob and Eliot for scheduling bottling
runs at Blanchard?

[4] Which system do you prefer? What improvements can be made?

[5] What are the impacts of seasonality at Blanchard?

[6] What should Hank Hatch recommend to his boss, Toby Tyler?

 Case presentations will be given in the class on October 19, 2020 and four voluntary teams
will be selected for answering three assignment questions per each.
 All teams should submit their own case report until 9 a.m. on the presentation day.
 The presentation teams properly prepare a Zoom environment before the class with the TA’s
help.
 Your participations in discussion are essential for catching the key insights of the case.
