2. Orden total:
Si 𝑎, 𝑏 ∈ ℝ, se cumple una de las siguientes afirmaciones:
a) 𝑎 = 𝑏.
b) 𝑎 < 𝑏 (𝑏 > 𝑎).
c) 𝑏 < 𝑎 (𝑎 > 𝑏).
Si 𝑎, 𝑏, 𝑐 ∈ ℝ y 𝑎 < 𝑏, entonces:
1) 𝑎 + 𝑐 < 𝑏 + 𝑐.
2) Si 𝑐 > 0, 𝑎𝑐 < 𝑏𝑐.
3) Si 𝑐 < 0, 𝑎𝑐 > 𝑏𝑐.

3. Completitud de ℝ:
Definición:
a) Si tengo un conjunto A acotado superiormente, la menor de sus cotas superiores se
llama supremo de A (sup(A)).
b) Si tengo un conjunto A acotado inferiormente, la mayor de sus cotas inferiores se
llama infimo de A (inf(A)).
Proposición:
1) Todo conjunto 𝐴 ⊂ ℝ, 𝐴 ≠ ∅, acotado superiormente, tiene supremo.
2) Todo conjunto 𝐴 ⊂ ℝ, 𝐴 ≠ ∅, acotado inferiormente, tiene ínfimo.
Observación:
o inf(A) es el número que cumple:
a) 𝑖𝑛𝑓 (𝐴) ≤ 𝑥 ∀𝑥 ∈ 𝐴.
