When I saw that we would be conducting an interview with a values

education/ESP/GMRC teacher, I was excited to interview them because I wanted to know the
current assessment that they utilized. It’s even more interesting that I will be given a chance to
firsthand know the different assessment strategies used by these teachers. Also, after
interviewing one teacher, me and my partner need to list down all the strategies utilized by the
teacher that we interview. Which I actually believe is good because we will have an idea of what
other teachers use. Thankfully, I didn’t have a hard time looking for a teacher because I know
someone close to me that I can interview anytime that I want.

Prior to the interview, me and my partner construct an interview guide, but we are free to
give follow-up questions to gather more information. We made this so that we are all well guided
and will be able to gather the information that we need. While conducting the interview, I was so
well engaged in the conversation because the teacher that I interviewed was also telling me
stories to share her experience while using these various assessment strategies. It actually made
me look back in the past when I was a student because I remember my ESP teacher doing some
of the strategies, especially role-playing. Which is the most common strategy used in ESP, along
with video and photo analysis?

I even ask for tips when making a question for analysis, because I admit that is my
weakest point. Although I'm quite sad that the teacher I interviewed barely provides rubrics to
her students, when I asked her why, she said that it’s too much work. I’m disappointed with her
answers, so I asked why she used a basis for grading the output or performances of her students.
She was not able to give an answer. I hope she learns the importance of rubrics because they are
not just used in grading students; they will also serve as the basis for what the students need to
do in order to successfully accomplish the task.
