- How did the values and expectations regarding sex and marriage held by the
Ukrainian immigrants differ from those of mainstream Canadian the interwar
period, according to the article by Frances Swyripa?
Discuss the development of nursing in Canada, paying particular attention to
the role of professionalization and unionization in nursing. How can a gender
analysis deepen our understanding of the development of nursing?
3. Why did women seek to limit the size of their families? Why were some
people interested in making contraception widely available? Why were others
opposed?
4. What dangers did paid employment for married women pose, according to its
opponents? What arguments were made in its defence?
5. Second wave feminism was extremely diverse. Discuss 3 elements of it. Feel
free to draw on sources of knowledge from outside our class in your answer.
